Why did you quote my post? Did you even read it.

If you want to look like a dork, go ask someone with a modified STI or GTI what "Stage" he has..

The stage 2 is a safe bet. it isn't mush to upgrade to the 3. They are working on the stage 4 and 5 for the cobalt itself. just thought I would let you know. www.hahnracecraft.com
Really? That's funny, because I was just saw Bill 2 weeks ago at his shop and we talked about how he won't put a kit on the Cobalt due to not having the ECU part figured out yet. But you have had one 5 months, eh?

I'm not doubting that you put a turbo on your car, but you did not put a kit designed for the Cobalt on.

he never said that he put a kit that was designed for the cobalt on! he said that he put a kit made for a cavalier on, and they had to make some slight alterations in order to get it to work with his car.

Well, I wasn't trying to be a smart ass, but after re-reading my post I see that it does sound that way. So I apologize.

To continue, what are you using as engine management? That seems to be the problem at the moment.

dont take this to offense, but you need to do ALOT of reading before u even think about T/C a 2.2 you seem to know nothing about cobalts or cars in general. A turbo isnt like a sticker. U cant just slap it on and expect it to stay there and work as intended. There is maintainance and other issues that go along with it. IF you want a tb car RIGHT NOW then buy a srt 4 because you dont have the knowledge at this time to successfully put together a reliable turbo on your own.

again dont take this as an insult im just calling it how i see it

i take it none of you own a turbo car. stages usually indcate what amunt of psi you can safetly run through your compressor. stage one kits usually have a psi of 6-7. stage two kits have around 8-10. stage 5 kits exeed 25 PSI. The price ranges go up to compensate for better products to maintain your system. An intercooler to lower intake air temps, a turbo timer to keep oil from harding in the system and heads, wastegate and blow off valves to release excess pressure. engine management to increase air fuel mixture and timing. Usually a stage 1 kit can be added to a car without modifying anything. Not my recomdation though. Stage 2 kits usaully just add an intercooler and maybe a boost controller. from experince owning a turbo car, make sure you have a turbo timer.

The amount of PSI that can go through your compressor in most cases far exceed the 6-7 or 8-10 psi you just mentioned. For example: my turbo is a T3/T4 50 Trim, these turbos can run up to about 25+ PSI and still be efficient. What you're talking about is what the COMPANY says you should run on that certain setup.

Like said before, stages mean nothing as far as "kits" go. If they did, what stage would people be if they did a custom setup? (retoricle question).

And just to add, you said:

Just so people don't get confussed, wastegates and blow off valves work on the opposite sides of the motor. A wastegate is there to bleed exhaust flow away from the turbine to limit the amount of boost someone is or should be running. It opens when it's at it's limit and remains closed when it isn't.

Blow off valves work to releave pressure on the intake side. It releaves pressure everytime you release your foot off the gas pedal. The more pressure you give, the more pressure is releaved and the louder it will be (with atmospheric blow off valves).
