I saw in your other thread that you are currently m62. Did trifecta originally tune you? You may be able to talk them into re-tuning, but that would be the first step. You are dead in the water without lining up a tune or exploring ecu swap/standalone options
I didn't explain that very good sorry. I currently have an open ticket with trifecta and I would actually be buying the TVS from the guy at trifecta who tunes 05-06 cobalts and have already came to and agreement on a re-calibration. Now a year or so down the road and I don't know if he will still be willing to help. So I am figuring if I want to do this I have to do it all now to avoid tuning complications in the future.
There would at least be a timing adjustment. I can hardly even tap the potential of the TVS without building the bottom end. If I dropped a pulley size I would need a retune as well wouldn't I? With a TVS would I keep the stock CR or drop it?

Ignition timing. Basically I'm saying I can't run the potential of the TVS with a stock L61. So I don't see how I wouldn't need a retune when I go built. I will need a retune to crank up the power at least. Would I not be able to drop a pulley size on built engine vs. Stock?

I really want to build the 2.2 to keep the car as close to it's base model roots as I can. Maybe I'll get a donor wrecker 2.2 and build it on the side and then do the swap. Is the LE5 plug and play in place of the L61?
Alright well it looks like I am going to go with the TVS as I have confirmed that I will have tuning support. Next step will be to build the lower end consisting of:
-Wiseco pistons 10:1
-Eagle rods
-ARP head studs
-Cometic gasket
I am only really shooting for around 300 whp when I get built. I wouldn't think I would have heat problems running it that easy? Is there a bigger pulley available for it?
Am I crazy to think I can run this de-tuned (highly retarded timing) before I go built?
you should be able to 300 hp using the M62 with a good map and a small pulley,
becareful of trying to run a over retarded map you can cause knock by not running enough ignition why are you planning on restricting it
i would also consider going for lower compression pistons
i run a cc up front of the car but do plan on running water injection soon when the software i use introduced a second map with safety features which kicks in when/if the water runs out

I was planning on retarding the timing to prevent knock.
Do you know of any 9.5:1 pistons available for L61? I don't want to go clear down to 8.9:1
I also don't want to do any water/meth injection. I want to make as much power as I safely can on 91 octane gas because that is all I can get.
Below is as far as I got last night. I need some female torque sockets. Is there any other relatively special tools I will need?

I have been following the build book for installing rods an pistons. I was looking ahead in the build book and it says to reuse the old rings on the new pistons. I thought I was supposed to lightly hone the cylinder walls, gap the new rings and use them. Anyone have any insight on this?
Also, those of you who have replaced your own valve springs, what valve spring compressor tool did you use and how was the process?
I still would appreciate some feedback on the smallest pulley people have run with a 10:1 compression, pump gas, no meth/water, and ~62lb/hr injectors.
I run 8.9 on 91 without any issues, it's better to be safer. It should only be a 2% loss in hp between the two you've stated. Not really a big difference at all.

Well at this point I have already installed the 10:1 forged pistons. Everything has actually been put together for a couple weeks now. I mainly wasn't wanting to lose any low end torque.
However, I am getting knock under high load conditions. To help alleviate this problem without sacrificing power I will be installing a water/methanol injection system.
