So was leaving class today and I got on the interstate going 75 mph a few seconds later I smell a burnt smell kinda like a burnt clutch or burnt wire and I'm like Wtf is that look down and I'm going 96 mph. The smell was coming through my vents I have a 05 Chevy cobalt ls auto no mods. Except I did the air box mod
I have had the car for about a year and I've never smelt that when I halled ass before.

Update: found out I have no oil at all. The dip stick was dryyy. I'm not sure if I'm hearing things but I think i heard the engine knock but it wasnt really loud .
Did I mess up my rods?

Ok i have definately smelled this before and no idea why

 

In all honesty I smelt it once, and it was pretty heavy of a smell. After a few minutes and exiting, I determined it wasn't my car. Just monitor it. Keep a wrench handy to yank the battery cable off just in case it were to try and catch fire. Better safe then sorry.

 

A silent but deadly one

 

If OP is like me, I can run a room out with mine.

 

I mean if u shat yourself the smell would linger and follow you outside of ur car.

96 mph can cause sudden wet farts so be careful.

 

I've hit the governor several times didn't **** my self until I got caught.

 

Usually smells I smell come from other cars that are passing by. If u got no oil at all and now ur hearing odd sounds I'd say ur gonna be needing a new motor soon. Unless sleeper agent is for troll from a different forum, then by all means keep driving ur oil less car

 

Put oil in it and drive it.

I did still making knocking noise but goes away.
Still trying to find out why it makes a louder knocking noise when I put it in drive or reverse

 

Check your heat shields for that knockong noise
I was stressed for a week or so, hearing this knock at idle and lower rpm ( loud exhaust i ant heat **** )

Ended up being BOTH of my heat shield lol, i toghtened the manifold one and removed the one under the car.
