What can i do with Sai

alright story is Iam 18 bought the car myself but my dad likes to keep all his chevys stock as in not messing around with the internals. As i read on in these threads it seems that with SAI i couldn't do a cold air intake (substituted with k and n short ram) i cant do headers and now it seems I can't do exhaust Is it even worth trying to soup it up, becasue i feel so restricted) thanks you for any positive input )

You can have the SAI taken out with a reflash of the computer. You should be fine with getting an exhaust; the SAI only taps into the header.

I didn't even know the '08s had SAI.

You should still be able to do a downpipe and catback. I have SAI myself and I too plan on getting a K+N SRI and I'm doing a DP and a catback.

He can't because he is in NY. I on the hand might consider it if it's reasonable.

Yeah, I believe they follow the Cali Emission laws. The reason why my car has it is because I'm pretty close to NY.

you can have the sai reflashed, and just take it off like stated. orngbalt had his flashed, and we took his off a few weeks ago, was pretty straight forward. once that comes off, everything else is fair game. we installed a full exhaust on his car no problem.

so there's options, just get the flash.

How much would it cost to get it flashed off? I really would like to do a full exhaust on my car and the Sai is in the way.

no idea. but once you get it done if u need help taking it off and putting on the exhaust let me know. i think you're kinda far but if you need help driving a lil is better than paying a shop. unless u can do it yourself.

.
I don't have the tools and other equipment to do it ATM. If I ever get it flashed off, I'll keep you in mind. Driving to where you're at in NJ would be a lot cheaper than me paying a shop to install an exhaust.

contact trifecta tuning in seattle, washington. they get you mod list and they can specifically send you a tune based on what you have done. im sure that they could do something for the sai. i havent ordered mine yet, but im pretty sure you just plug whatever they send you into your obd 2 and flash your computer, so their is no downtime. website is http://www.trifectaperformance.com/

good luck

cool. i'm way north in jersey. people have driven from all over the tri-state area to come have parts installed I don't charge anything either. but you're right, gas is going to be way less than shop install, plus you get the satisfaction of knowing you did the work to your own car.

You will be able to install any downpipe and cat back exhaust system with no problem. The SAI has nothing to do with the intake mani so upgrading to the 2.4 mani won't be a problem either.

I also have the SAI and was able to do a cold air set up. Did have to purchase a second tiny filter and some rubbery glue stuff. Either way NO codes, No Issues.
