Vince's responce to re-tuning over the internet is really good. He is tuning my car for boost right now. Our ECM's can only read a maximum size of 52lb injecotrs so he went 10.0:1 accross the board for my tune to make sure i didnt blow the motor up under boost with 60lb injectors. Last night he adjusted the tune becuase it was so rich the car was falling on its face when i would take off from a stop. He moved the AFR to 12.7:1 accross the board and since i have the 60#ers the actuall wied band registared at 11.1:1 while under boost, he is adjusting it again today so that it will be at 11.5:1 on the AFR. Once my new header and down pipe come in we are going to get it tuned for 15psi and then he will start using my tune for boost as a starting point for other people that want to use 60lb injectors

IMO the internet/email tuning isnt bad at all, and vince has been extremely responsive.

people just dont like it becuase they see it as a canned tune. they dont realize that as long as you have your **** together and you can tell him what needs fixing, he can tweak is as if he was right there. and for that 300, he makes sure you get the right tune...

im on board.

he does a 300 tune plus 50 update fee right? so i could get an NA tune and then pay 50$ to update to turbo in a couple months?

p.s. People who think 300 is expensive dont realize that lsj guys who want tunes and dont have someone with hpt around have to pay over 600 to buy hpt that they might not even be able to use on their own... were basically paying 300 for a professional to tweak our car. sounds sweet to me

unless you are his ginny pig that is helping him tune for boost, lol. He is hooking me up in return he will have a boosted tune for a 2.2 to sell. a win/win situation

Updates:

I drove 200 miles this weekend.

The car is so much better. The idle was spot on. The powerband is much better from 3000RPMs and up. I'm not sure where he put the rev limiter but it's not at 6500. He told me he upped it for the 2.4 intake mani and TB.

The car exhaust note is much deeper and the car sounds so much smoother overall.

Oh and I got 36MPG. I think i was running a little rich before the tune because my mileage was usually 32mpg's.

I still need to know if I need to do some logs for Vince to see if it's running well.

Oh and I don't have my 2.4TB on yet and it runs very nice anyway. That answered a question I had earlier.

Good Luck guys, i'll try to get a dyno soon

good luck on the dyno. but i wouldn't expect much more than 14x whp just so you're not disapointed. interested in the results though.

We wouldn't even have a ******* WAY to tune our cars via the ECM/TCM you idiots!!!!!!!!! So STFU and quit talking **** if you don't know or understand; I geuss thats why you guys who realy talk that much **** drive riced out cobalt LS with nothing but a ss wing and a fart can. If the LS2 edit coud work on the car then how ome no one has done/even tried it yet, huh?!

I don't wana sound like an ass but Vince is a realy kool guy and is offering a lot to us 2.2 guys who get talked down upon alot from the SS guys and for some reason half if not the majority on this forum don't appreciate it.

/rant.
that was a really gay rant. Seemed completely uncalled for. I think you have confidence issues. But is what really gets me is the avatar

that was with other mods. in any case don't listen to anyone and when you dyno you'll see what it makes...

u are right.

i may shatter the dreams of many with low numbers, but i dont know. the 2.4 intake mani test car has roughly the same mods as i do without a tune.

ill try to schedule a date tomorrow for dyno

no, not joking. majority of 2.2 owners are disapointed at the dyno. i'm just saying, don't get your hopes up. and just because one car got those #'s with optimal conditions, and many dyno runs where the highest # was posted, it doesn't mean anything really. wasn't trying to be negative at all, simply saying you should always think low, and if it's higher, then it's all good. but many, many people go to the dyno expecting certain #'s and are upset when they don't get them. i don't see how a bigger throttle body will help, with your mods you're probably not moving anywhere near the amount of air that would require a bigger throttle body, especially when coupled with a bigger manifold. i haven't kept up with the throttle body and intake manifold upgrades for the 2.2, so i could be wrong, but i wouldn't be shocked if it did nothing for the car, or even lost power because of the lost velocity.

Update:

The 2.4TB doesn't quite work. The Idle hovers at 2k RPM's. I thought it was lose connection on intake with a vacuum leak, but i redid the intake 3 times all with the same result. The computer was reset and everythiing

So questions. When i reset the computer the tune Vince sent is still on there right? I didn't get Limp Mode. The 2.2 TB went back on and the car was back to normal

What to do?

read my above post. even if it did "work", it will probably hurt more than help. leave your stock throttle body on, like i said, you're nowhere near the point of needing a bigger throttle body.

Haha I have the 2.4 TB and it is working just fine via vince's tune. I was the first to put it on and get it working. It does make a difference. its more noticeable in the higher RPMs but it does make a difference. as long as its tuned for you gain.

Do you have the 2.4 Intake mani? By the way vac line aren't just the intake.

Well how much low end is lost because I figure if the 2.4L guys can use this TB on the same HP levels we should be fine, but I guess the displacement helps them a lot more.

I'll talk to VInce today to see what I want to do.

Vince emailed me back and said he found an issue on the 2.4TB that he needed to fix.

Getting update tune today

2.4 tb from 07 ion works with tune

carfeels so much better

better throttle response, deeper tone, much better top end and same gas mileage.

as for the tune; vince helped so much. got him to tune fans, car never gets above 200 now

curious to see #'s, though i don't hold much stock in dyno #'s, or 1/4 mile times if you go to the track. glad to see you got it working

good luck with the dashawk, i have been looking into that thing...how accurate is the a/f's it shows? are the WOT #'s atleast usable? or not? i was thinking of use the dashhawk and seeing if the digital read out of the a/f at WOT are ccurate enough, i only need to know my WOT a/f...if not i will buy a wideband and install it to the dashahwk
