so im getting a zzp downpipe hopefully black fri if they put them on sale.
i want to tune but just not yet so i wanted to get the SAI compatable header. but only place that has it that will work with the zzp header is cobalt addiction. yes i know dont buy from them. but everyone has their storys. my buddy tells me to order from them and that they are legit and stuff.

what do you people think. can i get away with just installing a zzp catted downpipe with the stock header for a little bit so i can debate if i wanna risk with cobalt addiction? i have the gm performance exhaust also

im pretty much asking if its fine to run the downpipe with the stock header for the meantime untill i can make my mind up if i wanna go with cobalt addiction

yea they dont make one thats compatable with sai

if they made one id buy it!! reason i want one with sai is so i can get it installed and not be forced to get a tune

 

What are your other mods? I would suggest just getting a tune then if you have other mods like exhaust and cai/sri or anything else a tune will squeeze max performance out of all your aftermarket and you can delete sai.

 

i have a sri and a gmpp catback. i kinda wanted a header compatable with sai. idk whats involved to delete sai. i wanted to wait to tune till i had a full exhaust. im not surw which header that isnt compatable with sai to get if i was to delete it.

so im looking over everything i ordered and am praying i get no CEL
i emailed zzp prior to ordering sent them a print screen of my order and all the drop downs and the guy confirmed that it will work with no problems
heres the options i selected:2.5 inch downpipe. auto transmission,magnaflow cat (+50.00), 2.5 inch bolt in (+20.00) add bung for o2 sensor for 2.2L (10.00) add front and rear gaskets (14.00)

when i emailed a diff person responded and said something about an angled o2 bung for 40 dollars and something about a 420 code for the pcm..
i emailed most recently like beg of nov and the guy said what i have above will work and i will have no problems or CEL's

 

do not order from cobalt addiction, just don't do it

if i tune my SAI out will i fail emissions here in NYS?
im getting the dp and installing it to my gmpp exhaust and stock header than guna worry about a header and a tune out for the sai later.

Does NY do tail pipe sniff testing? If not then you're fine and will pass with a tune so long as your tuner knows you need the lights turned off.

AFAIK if you remove it physically and have your tuner make it appear logically as if it were there and functioning properly you will pass because for most techs / local auto shops are unable to tell weather or not you cobalt came with this system. Like I said that's AFAIK, I will be putting this to the test some time this year haha.

 

I live in Pa and all I get for emissions is the gas cap test in my county. From what I understand, the SAI system was supposed to be for California (emissions) bound cars only. By our state law, I can legitimately take my car to a dealership (or myself), remove the system and turn off the SAI code and it will pass visual inspection. I'm in the same boat as you, I'm just disconnecting the system at the manifold because they rarely pop your hood at small shops, which is where I take it. If the car is VIN'ed with SAI, that could be a gray area and I don't have an answer to that.

 

The car does have the sai in the vin, if they find that you have tampered with it, its againt state and federal laws, get into trouble. Dealership will not disconnect either. google it
