If youre using the engine harness and computer from the lap then you dont need to change anything

You have to know what year car youre swapping first to get the right diagrams

I feel like getting the VVT hooked up and properly working (without engine codes) would be way too much work.

If he has the lap already then why would it be too much work? Using the original engine harness and computer, it wont have any issues.

If he puts in an L61 in the ECU is going to be trying to read the solenoids and at the very least throw codes, right?

Were there any resources for the changing the pinouts of the fuse boxes? I'm currently in the middle of an L61 to LAP swap and running into issues figuring out the wiring harness situation.

Not trying to hijack thread but I have a question directly related. It seems that you can swap a LAP into an L61 Cobalt as long as it is an 07-08 L61? What if you had an 06 L61? Is there anything that would swap in other than other 05-06 L61? What would it take to swap from an 06 l61 ECU to an 07 ecu?

Basically I have an 06 L61 and I am trying to see if I have any options if my block blows up. I would like to get away from the 06 ECU so I have tuning options. If I go to the trouble of any engine swap I think it would be counter productive to go back in with the 06 ECU. But I don't really know what options I have.

i cant comment on 05-06. what i can say is i have completed an lap - late l61 swap. my shop bought a 2011 hhr with 2.2l lap, engine was toast. also had a smashed up 2008 l61 with a good engine. i swapped the entire cradle, engine, trans, wiring harness, ecm and tcm from the 08 to the 2011, did a security relearn and away it went. im sure an lap would go right into an 07-08 l61 car providing you swap the engine, harness and ecm, and both harnesses are either auto or manual.

I havent put anything 07+ into an 05-06 car yet but i plan to swap my good friends saturn this year. I honestly dont think it will be any different than putting an le5 in my l61 car. But trial and error will get me there.

Man if you could start a thread to document that process it would be awesome.
