Exhaust Question

I have a stock 2010 Cobalt LT2 with what i guess is the LAP 2.2L. I am going to be adding a cai, as well as swapping out the exhaust for some upgrades. I am leaning toward a zzp dp, and probably will try to find a used catback. My question about the exhaust is this: Would it be accurate to say that the 2.2 would work better with a 2.5" exhaust setup than a 3"? I will probably wait till later to do a header-but I wanted to see what you guys would advice on that. Thanks for any help.

3 inch is not necessary unless you plan to go forced induction

2.5" is plenty good. I would even find a 2.25 or 2 and 3/8 exhaust.

i have the ZZP header/DP combo. I like it

3" on an n/a motor is way overkill and will probaly lose more power than gain. 2.5" is more than enough for any n/a mods you will have

its not on my car anymore but i have a badmab header, 3 inch zzp downpipe, 3 inch mandrel bend piping abd borla muffler and it gave me alot of gain u could def tell my top end was alot better i also had the k&n cold air. but it also killed my selnoids so dont do it do with a 2.25-2.5

but when u by the exhaust make sure u get it so it bolts up with the stock header
