Gene, you DID use the oil change how-to correct?
It explains how to get to the filter very easily on there for LSJs (and newly supercharged NA ecotecs).

Just need a socket and an extension, and no removal of any parts is necessary

No, lol, I didn't know there was a specific thread for this. I'll have to read it, but for me, there was no way to get that out of there from the top. I had to disconnect the coolant overflow hose, remove the EVAP hose, remove the brake booster hose and also the hose from the valve cover to the cold air intake, lol.

Are you talking about this thread?

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/oil-change-how-picture-22848/

I don't have the same amount of room there. Here is his picture....

If you look at my pic, my A/C line is there, my dipstick is there and I also have active handling (traction control) so I have all of the other stuff in my way as well. Also forgot to mention my engine wiring harness is also in the way... which you can see in the pic.

Well, I'm going to have to calm it down a bit. Two weeks ago I got a ticket for a 73 in a 55. On Tuesday morning I was on the way to work and this guy in a Benz was screwing with me. We started out at a normal speed and then there was a car in front of me, so I moved over into the right lane behind the Benz and then did a slingshot around and we started going at it. I was about 6-7 car lengths ahead of the Benz when I looked up in the rear view mirror and saw the red and blue lights again.

The car I had to go around to race the Benz was an unmarked and he saw the whole thing. Ugh. When he pulled me over he didn't mention a thing about the Benz... I thought I was going to get it for racing.

He gave me 4 tickets, lol. One for expired registration... expired Monday... one for careless driving... one for following too closely and one for 86 in a 55. I guess he took it easy on me on the speed because I was in full boost in 4th gear when he was behind me so I was well over 100... but I guess he just took the reading from his speedo.

That is $500 in tickets. Oh boy.

Casey... I went in and messed around with reaching to get to my filter like that guy did in the pic and I might be able to do it. I will have to check it the next time I do an oil change.

Vince just sent me an update, but we got a little dusting of snow here so I'll have to try it out in a couple of days.

Damn Gene. Time to park the car!

I remember I got pulled over 5 minutes after I got the car running...officer said he caught me doing 45 (in a 25) when I was slowing down. I was probably doing about 60 before then - with no headlights in, haha. Well, wrote a letter to the judge, and they agreed to knock it down from the 5 over ticket ($125, 2 points) the cop gave me (HUGE break) down to a sudden acceleration ($125, 0 points) if I went to traffic school (an extra $90). I figured it was worth it to keep the points off my record...perhaps I should've read the agreement a little closer...

...because in about mid October, on my way back from one of our fraternity rush events, all of us were having fun driving back - doing about 70 in a 55 the whole way (at some points I had my car up to 110...). Long story short - I get pulled over, because I was the first car in the pack. Got nailed with a 68/55. Was pissed, but lets just say the night was fun/funny later on.

Had both court dates last week. The first one was a hearing to see if I went to the traffic program. Which I did - then he asked if I had any more tickets...which I did. He then changed it from sudden accel to 75 in a 70 - same fine, but with points abstracted...so honestly, the same thing, just shows up on my driving record. So I went to court for the second ticket two days after and was hoping for the best. I get up there - the judge and the cop say my record is CLEAN and sentence me to driving school again ($50). If I complete that and get no tickets by April of next year, the ticket goes away. Ahh, sometimes it's nice how slow the system works!

Hope the best for ya Gene, maybe you can get the offenses lowered...

ha ha now I'm scared to sc my car. I just got cuffed and car towed from my local pd. the cop must have been in a bad mood. he couldn't even clock a speed for me. well hopefully your car's running great. I'm hoping to get started on buyin parts once there's a complete tune for all this.

Kyle, thanks for sharing your story. I'll let you know how I make out, lol.

Vince already has the complete tune ready for the LAP, so supercharge away.

As far as how is it running? It was running perfectly before I added the CAI. Vince has been tweaking the tune for me here and there to get it straightened out. I believe we're almost finished with it.

It is running lean in this 28 degree weather, but I'm waiting to finish up the tune with Vince so I can have a summer tune and a winter tune. I am seeing about 15-15.5 lbs of boost, but I haven't been hammering on it much at all until I get more fuel added in.

Mines been fine...and I've been running around in 15 degree weather...I haven't really nailed it when it was that cold, but I did it when it was in the 20s and it was fine.

Still never got my traction control issue resolved. Vince asked me to send the cable back. He did a good job, I'll just have to find someone local to figure it out...

I don't remember what your traction control issue was.

Ditto. On start up the coolant has been down to 3 degrees! *brrrrr!* I let it warm up for about 5 minutes before I drive to work in the morning, and I try not to even get into boost when it's still warming up (but it happens sometimes if I have to pass or whatever). So far no issues and it's starting right up even in sub-zero temps.

It cuts my RPMs when I'm spinning too much.

Gene I'll def let you know how the tuning goes. So far Vince is doing well for us. We just got on the dyno. My car dynoed low cause my o2 took a crap and made the car run rich. But my buds car put down 274 on his initial tune.

Hey Gene, can you please pm how you did the 2.5map/iat2 conversion please. Our build is getting closer and closer and I'm gathering all the info and parts I can.

Yeah it has been cold here. It warms up much better when I leave the house since I have a garage, but when I've started it at work it has been like 28 degrees. I take it easy on it.

That sounds like a torque management issue. I could be wrong though, lol.

I'm glad to hear it is working out for you. I'm going to wait to take it to the dyno until I actually have a finished tune and my clutch isn't bad. He put down 274 whp?

As far as the IAT2 conversion. I just jacked it up, removed the left inner fender liner. I cut the IAT1 wire at the MAF and I ran a new wire from the MAF to the new MAP sensor and connected them. This sounds fairly easy, but I took apart my whole engine wiring harness and ran it through there so you can't see anything. It looks totally factory. And since we are using the LSJ intake manifold, there is no fabricating anything for the MAP sensor to fit. If you have any other questions let me know.

Yeah, that's what we're still thinking - but he's pretty much at a loss for now. He asked to send back the cable, so I figure he doesn't have any more ideas...

Yeah he made 274whp/236tq. Not bad on an initial tune and 91octane. We're both pulleying down even more now.

That is very simple. I'll make sure to do that part when I'm moving over and rewiring for the TB/MAF. I'm prob just gonna do a whole wire tuck on the car while it's apart. I'm not really sure on what else besides..........oh, did you change the alt bracket at all? Didn't see that on your thread. I've basically been going over all these conversion thraeds lately.

Sheesh I wonder what my whp is then. I changed the alt bracket to the LSJ bracket. That is in the parts list. You have to change it.

I want to see some numbers too. I have to get a new clutch. Any type of heavy acceleration at all and my clutch sounds like it is going to blow apart.

Well that's no fun.

You should just let it blow apart into fun little bite size pieces!

...or not...

thats what happend to mine when i was sc'd, i went with the exedy stage 2 and it held 255whp fine, well see what it does with 325whp, it should be good

i wouldnt recomend the lightwieght flywheel from exedy if your car is your DD, its just very aggressive, esp with full poly mounts
