I had a 2003 cavalier with a 2.2ecotec. I ran dino oil for the first 20,000kms ... and then switched over to synthetic mobil 1. I was curious if this is still the same with ecotec now used in my 2009 Cobalt?

When did you switch to synthetic?

 

I usually switch to Mobil 1 within the first 100 miles. I want the benefits from the very beginning!

 

3,000 miles, I switched. As for why..? Why not?

 

I switched to Mobil 1 in my L61 at the second oil change. I would have done it at the first change but when I bought the car the dealer credited me for one free oil change (dino oil) so I just accepted that then went synthetic when I started doing the oil changes on my own.

soon as i brought mine home from the dealership synthetic went in !! mobil 1 is what i use

 

i bought the car used with 43k miles and changed to synthetic a week later.

shes got 63k now and loves the synthetic
