Thoughts on 2.7 pulley

Right now I have 2.9 and get 13 lbs (also ported blower). Will it hold up?

I want more power!

On 60s.. yes.

13lbs on a 2.9 seems low though, doesn't it?

2.2s generate less because of smaller crank pulley

What about internals? Are you gonna keep them or change them? If you change them then yes do it.

I wouldn't go to a 2.7 on stock internals. That's just asking for trouble

2.2s make less boost due to crank pulley. Im thinking it might be ok.

The 2.2 internals aren't as strong as Lsj. I wouldn't recommend it. I was going to go with a 2.8 but I settled for the 2.9 and a hold 15 psi boost and am happy with it.

I think the lowest anyone has gone on stock internals was a 2.8. I think stenguyen went down that low and he blew his up

Also 2.2s make less boost primarily because of the larger displacement than the LSJ. Also why 2.4s makes even less still. Not useful to whether a 2.7 is safe or not but for future reference

^ LOL.

Honestly...I understand how 2.9 is the edge of wrecking a motor because going from the 2.9 to the 2.7 pulls wayyy better. Its fun but just watch your iat2s. I am running a 2.7 on my 2.4l and only seeing 11-12psi. I have a ported head and full exhaust though. The 2.7 really does need meth. Especially now that its hot outside. I still have it on but i am running e85. if its ~70 degrees ambient my iat2s are ~100(w/dualpass/s3 he, phenolic spacer) and if I do a 3rd gear pull to 7600rpms I will see 145 degree iat2s. So that means no back to back pulls and if you run up the gears (1,2,3rd) youll see temps over 160. Maybe less though if you are revving lower. Takes a while for temps to recover too. The 2.9 recovers faster and operates ~10 degrees cooler.

I usually run 23* above ambient. That's with out phenolic but that's with the cx racing pump. I'm going to think a bit more. Just bought the Bosch pump so hopefully that helps

I'll be going to a 2.7 once I build the bottom end...should be fun.

I don't beat on my car in the summer anyway, too hot for that
