2.4 Airbox Removed
jesus it only took me 2 hrs 15 mins i didnt remove the fender or anything but i had to cut the damn thing out with a hacksaw and i got pissed thats why i cut it off cuz it wouldnt come out lol. i thought about just having the intake just come over and just have the filter and not that little black box that comes with it from gmpp. but i left it it hangs to much weight by itself. so i took the headlight out and the bracket and had to really reach into some tight spots to get this little black pull plug thingy by the wheel well. and then there was a bolt screw thing that i couldnt figure out how to get it undone. so i chopped the plastic off and left the bolt i forgot to see if it came off so its on there with a piece of plastic sitting there doing nothing. and then put it all back together headlight first to make sure it fit. then fixed up the intake and she has like 5 lbs less crap in it now. its getting lighter and lighter is all. so hopefully the air will get sucked up somemore from the fog lamp and around the side. got the idea from the 2.2 airbox mod since we have the same thing anywhos. well thats my days story of being bored.

jebus ****, u took a hacksaw to your intake? Couldnt figure out a 'bolt' so you cut the ****** up too? jebus ... i have a 2.4L SS and it was cake, a few bolts, some plastic snaps and i was golden.
best way is to just take the car jack, jack the car up and remove the wheel well, dont even have to take the wheel off....
holy crap....

^^^resonator... not intake. a few guys have given up on that plastic clip holding it in the back. it does come out, but it can be a pain. i got mine out without jacking it up, taking off the wheel well or hacking it up

Heh thats the wrong type of bumper for the 2.4 ss. The bumper shown is an lt. Don't feel bad about the saw you prolly had the same weird bolt onto a stud w/a vibration deadening gromit on it. i ended up taking a punch saw to it.

cuz i cant lift alot due to health reasons i got bored so i decided to try it. no not the plastic on the engine. that little bolt on the side of the metal where you cant get a damn socket on. i cut the plastic and left the bolt. then cut the box part of the tube off in 2 peices its ok it just draws air from that void for now.
yeah i noticed that tube to the front of the grill that aint the 2.4 though thats the lt 2.2 and i dont have the front grill bottom piece and i dont wanna zip tie it. but id have to find another way of mounting it.
ryan.
i hope everyone knows what im talking about. i have the gmpp and then the tube thats under that plastic that the intake comes with it draws air from behind the headlight. well when i got the intake last year i wanted to take the tube out didnt know how though and then i cought someones how to thread on here this year and i thought i could be daring and try it.
and lo and behold it worked just took alot of fighting the wheel well and no room for my hand didnt wanna take off the bumper or andything major. but it was a good 2 hrs id say and plus i didnt have all the right tools it was mostly just 9mm and 10mm socket it was hard to get tools in there and then i couldnt finess the piece out it was just to big.
so i got pissed and cut the sonofabitch out and threw it away i was yelling at it aint gonna get the best of me know are ya. lol it just needs finished off when i get a job and some money.
ryan.
didnt have jacks and couldnt lift anything and didnt wanna take major pieces off.

sweetness man are you using the stock one from the 2.0s aparently i cant read but i know a twinscrew would be great in our car i think its even cheaper and a better outcome then the ones in the 2.0 yeah all you would lose is the intake now and just route it to the other side. the only thing is where do you put the windshield washer tank cuz i dont know where or how its mounted on the 2.0s.
