2.4 L in Solstice

I was just browsing the web, and saw that the Pontiac Solstice 2.4 L Ecotec is rated at 177 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. And it comes with a 5-speed Aisin manual trans. Nice! Now if only these feature were avaliable on the Cobalt with the 2.4 L (cause what I have read and heard everywhere is that it will only be an auto trans avaliable)

yeah, the hhr gets the same motor with a five speed as well...im sure it wont take long for somebody to get a tranny hooked up to it...wont be possible with the solstice though of course...maybe the hhr....

You wont see the tranny in the cobalt as the solstice is RWD. As far as I know the HHR is FWD, meaning that the tranny wont be the same.

Yeah its just a rwd version. Maybe freeer flowing exhaust of something real minor to get 5 more hp.

Why would you want an aftermarket trans in the Solstice?

the Solstice/Sky powerpant is the same as the optional 2006 HHR and Cobalt engines...just mounted longitudinally......the HHR will get manual...and so will the Cobalt most likely as the HHR is based on the Cobalt chassis swapping wont be an issue...even if the HHR didnt get the manual you would just need all the controls, pedals, and transaxle from a manual Cobalt as all 3 ECOtec variants have the same external dimensions.
