? 2.4 ppl auto/ w tune

I had my car tuned but didn't have the trans done (TCM) so the question is will I notice a difference when I get the TCM done. I know there are things that can be done but I'm looking for some insight from you other owners that had their TCM done

Yes. TCM tuning will make a huge difference. I dropped a few tenths off my 1/4 mile time thanks to DJT81185's TCM tuning expertise.

well i don't drive an auto or a cobalt, but there are alot of things that can be done when changint the parameters of an auto tranny. Shift firmness and shift points can be changed which will do you alot of good. do it.

Yeah, the tuning software I have is from a company named Carputing they have a well known ls1 edit and they have the LS2 edit that I have I just didn't have the time to get the trans done that day but now I will have to make it a point. anyway if ppl are interested in taking a look here is their www.carputing.com also when I have questions of any type they e-mail back with the solutions they even sent me a scan program when I had questions e-mail them the scan and with quick response they told me what to do

Anyway for the ppl that have their 2.4 tcm done. Let me tell you thanks for your insight. Well friday I went to do my TCM and ended up doing it through the company that I bought the program from. I was just telling the guy what I was looking for, like not to radical of a shift but a good street shift maybe 30% increase and let me tell ya, This car has woken up even more. Later next week due to the Holidays I'm going to go and have a 3rd and 4th gear dyno run done just to see what the numbers will be any way we did a run before the tcm and the car pulled about 163 hp so after the holidays I'm going to get this fine tuned to see if we can pull a little bit more

Not to burst your bubble, but you probably won't pull more than before. All you did was firm/speed up the shifts. There shouldn't be any effect on how much power you're seeing while in gear. You didn't change anything except how it shifts.

I think it's pretty close to what I'll get with the mild mods I have. I don't know if pulling any more is possible.

With the listed mods and tuning, which includes a lot of TCM tuning, I put down:

Run Conditions: 92.60 Deg. F., 28.88 in-Hg, Humidity: 27%

153.17 hp / 144.33 ft-lbs
152.31 hp / 137.69 ft-lbs (4th Gear Pull, I think)
153.50 hp / 144.64 ft-lbs

Mods:
Injen CAI
2.5" Straight through Exhaust
Cat-Delete
Engine and Transmission Tuning

Two of those runs I think were in third, and one was in 4th IIRC. I might be wrong though. So you can see that the TCM tuning didn't really yield higher numbers than any other 2.4L Cobalts have been putting down.

But by all means, still do the dyno. I'm just advising you to not get your hopes up too high. I'm still interested in seeing what you can put down.

My Wester's tune is set to shift at 7k. I asked for the tune to give me the best 1/4 mile time. I remember someone else on the board had their rev limit raised to 7,200rpm.

You can set it or have it set to wherever you think best.

Instead of dynoing it maybe you should run quarter mile times to see the ET differences

Like someone asked above. Where and whom can I talk with to get this tune done to my 2.4auto.

I live in DuBois, PA (Central PA) anyone near Pittsburgh or Harrisburg (or anywhere in between) do this?
