Auto 2.4 keeping with an SC? Aboslutely no chance whatsoever. SC guy can't drive for ****.

From what I understand, a 5-speed 2.2 w/ intake and a guy that can drive can beat a stock auto 2.4. Our cars are slow.

Tune. Spray. Exhaust. You wanna make any real power SC your car. If you have the cash, turbo it. Auto trans will hold power well.

You have 19 posts and you claim that all I do is talk ****? Rrrrright. I'm just stating the obvious. There is NO way at all that stock for stock a 2.4SS can keep up with a SS/SC. Hell even with bolt ons it still probably won't happen.

Especially the auto. My 5-spd 2.4 is stock, and it pulls a good bit harder than the auto. Not anything HUGE obviously because it's the same damn motor... but the slushbox in stock form is fail.

well i can speak from experience..having a fully bolted and tuned 2.4 and driver mod..i keep up to a ss/sc untill the end of third..thats were they rape a 2.4

no chance in sweet hell can a 2.4 keep up to a ss/sc without the mods i listed.

and as for aftermarket..i pretty muched name it all unless you put big unreliable bucks into your car.

you wonder why i sold my soul for a ss/tc

I concur. I had an SS/SC the thing was quicker, even better with mods . Now I have a 2.4 auto HHR...no where near what the SS/SC was. But hey the wife can drive it and now we are trying for kids so all the better...lol...

A 2.4 5 spd can run 15.5's where the auto runs something like 16.1. Best thing for power is definitely FI.

ok honestly... how can someone not drive if youre doing a 40 roll n tromp the gas pedal n shift n put it to the floor again? its not like you have to launch the car or anything hard, shifting can be maybe a .1 or .2 slow with someone who cant shift that fast but that isnt the difference between a 2.0 n 2.4

lol I like how everyone bashes the auto tranny. Yes in stock form the auto tranny holds the car back but it should wake up with a good tune.

Road and track did a test on the 2.4 auto cobalt and it did 15.8 1/4 mile so its not that far behind the manual 2.4 cobalt.

5-spd is capable of 15.0 stock... that's what my cousin's friend ran in his. Auto isn't going to do that stock.

Don't know where you guys got your numbers from but I ran 15.7 my first time EVER at the track with my auto 2.4L w/ intake and exhaust only. I'll get better numbers when I go to a real track and get my launch down though, I put 15.7 with bald tires, a full tank of gas, and a sub. Intake and exhaust couldn't have opened my car up by .4 seconds. No DP or headers yet either.
