You could have taken him, its a focus. There was one in my nieghborhood, he put an exhaust on it, it sounded like a honda, only thing it went about 40 miles slower. It was real cute. Needless to say the kid drives some element now, since that beat him.

One of my best friends has a 2.3 Focus and we race all the time i can usually get a jump on him from a 40mph roll. But its funny because on the focus fanatics forum they think the 2.3 focus is god.

There's a guy out my way that has an M62 Eaton on his Focus and he runs mid to low 14's all day long. It's stealthy, pretty quiet exhaust, and clean. I like to give credit where credit is due. Not much of a Ford fan, so I would never own one, but not too bad.

http://www.focussport.com/turbocharger.htm
I also ran up against a few Focus guys around here. One had a semi built Duratec 2.3 with the Cosworth bolt on stage package and he had me by about 1-2 car lengths at 4th gear. Granted he had I/H/E and ECU tuning and I was just ECM and Intake but don;t sell the 2.3 as slow in a 3 door hatch.
His buddy was running the FOCUSSPORT stage 2 "INTERCOOLED" turbo which was running about 12psi. He laid down 252whp and the same torque. The SVTs with the XIOS turbo are about 290whp. Ask me how I know-they all DUSTED me.

i said duratec. not zetec. duratec can go to 12 but its unsafe. turbo tom (like an idle to focus people) cant produce a duratec to carry power. every time he cranks it up it ***** up. focus sports tunning sucks ass so most people dont use there tune anyways. i heared the hiboost kit for the duratec that just came out was suppost to be a hit but i havent payed attention to it.
cosworth kits are to damn expensive. stage one is about 1000 dollars and it only increases 25 hp? and then you have to spend another thousand to get stage 2 and thats when you see 200 bhp. duratec will never be as good as the zetec

As the link shows, and all the Focuses I ran, were duratecs and they kicked my butt. I don't lose many races period (check my posts) but I say they are fast. BTW the turbo DURATEC had been boosted he said for almost 10K miles.

or maybe...he knew youd back down because you had the woman with ya....
or maybe...he was drunk..or high...or both.
or maybe...im tired and im off to bed...
and yes, you shouldve taken him...even if he had mods.... (youd lose if he had a turbo)...
but you should be able to take him stock, if he had a few mods...

People......you gotta realize that there's other racing besides going fast in a straight line. Ok, so our cars are likely faster in a straight line. Big whoop. A well set up Focus will own us in an autocross event. My friend I mentioned earlier w/ the '07 Focus has one of the best handling cars I've ever ridden in. Its got sportlines, focus central front strut bar, focus sport rear strut bar, gutted rear/removed back seat, no carpet, Corbeau Forzas w/ Corbeau 4-pt harnesses, 4-point bolt in harness bar, 18x7.5 ICW Mach 10's w/ Nankang NS-2 rubber.......and that thing is sick to ride in. He's gonna get some smaller/wider wheels and competition rubber soon and start doing some misc autocross events soon. And its also faster than me in a straight line. Its got an F2 long tube stepped header, Tru-Benz non-resonated/de-cat 2.5" cat-back, F2 CAI, SCT xcal2 flasher, and a Dynotune/ZEX dry kit running only a 25 shot. That thing is straight nasty.....trust me.

I actually raced an SVT Focus recently with all my current mods and the focus was stock. We went from a dig and I had him by about a car and a half at 100. It was very close till about 70

Ever seen Hasport's yellow CRX? It barely even hits the 300whp mark w/o spray........and it takes down 500hp+ AWD monsters in time attack events. Having a small car helps.......and a Focus is a small car. The Cobalt.......not so much. And like I said, he only beats me with the 25 shot.
