Yes. You obviously need to research a lot though. Almost all the answers can be found on this forum. Start with one of the bajillion build threads

ZZP Bolt On SC Kit

I've been looking at that kit to SC my LE5. Its a complete bolt on package. Buy install and good to go, Tuning optional haha
Lower on the page they tell you that an LSJ take off will require changes with the pullies so the belts fit and work and all. This bolt on kit looks like an easier alternative.
Can run 8-11 psi out of the box getting 225-250hp easy. And that's with a base tune designed for maximum durability, Not performance

My biggest concern is my trans now, I have the 4spd auto and it'll surely blow!

You don't have to change anything because they have a 5 rib belt. Also with those numbers that is with all bolt-on's done, do you have those yet?

As for tranny they have upgrades for that if you run into issues.

You dont have to worry about your tranny at all. I have been sc for over a year and you can see my mods in my sig and there is no show of my tranny going. like stated above you only get 250ish with bolt ons..

Life of the transmission is determined by the condition of it prior to the sc/tc. Tune on the transmission will also determine the length of time it will last. I.e. STIFF shifting will destroy it over time. Bad shift points will also **** it up too.

I see yeah, I'm Trifecta Tune does that count? The only reason why i was asking is because I've been saving up for a while now and I'm coming close to where I just want to go SC. I didn't know anything about the tranny getting effected by the SC. My Tranny has been good to me and it's been almost one year since I've tuned. Sweet so I don't need to get a new belt then? Do I need anything different besides the SC Kit? Plus I'm in AUTO.

I've seen guys toast their auto trans. Others have had it last with a CONSERVATIVE tune on the transmission. You will need a new serpentine belt (LSJ = 6 rib, LE5 = 5rib) if you wish to add a blower.. I suggest you look up some builds on this website. Research is key.

Actually I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit.

4t45e tranny is quite stout, use good quality ATF and change it at least once yearly.

OK im gonna tell you right now dont worry about your transmission unless your are gonna boost it like Mmcgee then I wouldnt worry with the blower I doubt u will get in the 300 range with either hp or tq so your tranny will be fine. I drive it really hard and I put around 1500 miles easy a month and there is not one problem with the tranny. I believe if you go with the zzp kit it comes with the 5 rib belt but if you go with the LSJ you will have to cut a rib off and do it that way.

Well any info I can find on my trans state it can only handle about 220 lb-ft of input torque.
But I may be mistaken. I guess you all are right, Even if I do supercharge it I probably still won't blow it, Unless I run the most amount of boost I can with a full exhaust...

Yes, 220ft.lbs of input torque but also look at vehicle weight vs. max. gross vehicle weight of the tranny, a light car means less strain on the components. The stock 4t45e is used in the HHR SS with the detuned LNF engine (250/217 crank) so it can take some abuse. There are enough of us who drive boosted autos, if it was fragile you'd all know about it by now.

Really cause I thought I saw the engine rated to 300 hp and the tranny was rated to 350... but thats just what I found... and im one of the guys that is running a LE5 and SC and the tranny is running without a problem. but even if u just supercharge stock u should be good.

Gearbox torque is 325ftlbs, a cherry picked number people around here use because it is big. Using the inverse of(Acceleration=Torque/Inertia) shows that as inertia decreases (as the gearbox reduces the input speed through its reduction ratio) the torque increases, but it is always predicated on input torque. The equation is non linear, looking at an 4t60 shows a max input torque of 350ftlbs but a gearbox torque max of 670ftlbs.

So, Input torque != gearbox torque.

input torque = gearbox torque?

Well either way thanks for the info, I didn't even consider vehicle weight being a factor, Makes total sense now though. I Guess if it comes down to it, I'll SC the motor, and if I need to I'll just get the trans built. I'd rather keep it the same as factory just with better internals.
