that is the 5-speed, I have it but 5th gear will not take a car that much faster then 4th gear. the final gear in a tranny is a overdrive gear for road driving.

the ss's handle very well , and if its not quite enough you can put the ss/sc bar on the front cause it is bigger than the 2.4ss's bar

and phxss , ive ran 15.9's and 16.0's in my auto 2.4 cav , and the only focus or svt that has beat me at the track was using nitrous , none of the svts or zx3 or 5's have all been mid 16's at best in street trim , ive seen a few fully gutted 1's break into the 15's

the are a good car , but like i said 1/4 mile cars they are not

No, they are not 1/4 mile cars. But they are also not mid 16 sec cars. The automatic Zetec's w/130hp run low-mid 16's..But svt's do not run that slow unless the drver is a total noob. I believe that you have seen people svt's run those horrid times, but I'm telling you, that's not the norm. I never took my svtf to the track, but I have hung with Spec V's (175hp/180tq), GSR's, and other low-mid 15 sec cars from a dig, and all I had was an intake and TB.

Yeah, the SVT is definetly not a quarter mile car, but as long as you can drive it right, it's a mid 15 second car. I've seen lots of people run mid 16's in them, but that could happen with any car with a bad driver. I've seen people who know how to drive them do mid 15's stock, and sport compact car claimed they were running 15.3 stock without the traction control. The traction control is the biggest reason it's hard to run it in the quarter mile. Sorry, I got off topic.

^^ yes, and that damned lazy-ass first gear is really irritating in light to light driving.

LOL , i really hate doing all this in the improper fourm

so i think if a mod wants to split it off , i wouldnt mind

in all honesty , ive seen alot of focus guys at the track , even hung out with a few , 1 guy had a ZX3 with intake , tb header back exhaust , light weight wheels , slicks/drag radials(not sure which) 1 seat , and nothing for interior , except a rollbar , he never got better than a 15.9 most of his passes were closer to a mid 16's , which really suprised all of us that were there

and i will say ive only seen a few svtf's at the track , but none of them have been in the 15's , and none of the 1's i lined up against me beat me time wise , and my 97 has ranged from a worste of 16.8 and a best of 15.9 all n/a , my 00 has run a best of 16.0 n/a

my 00 will be at firebird friday night , its first time at the track with s/c boost , ill be more than willing to race any svtf's that show up , my g/fs cav should be out there also , and its n/a

and im taking all the stuff ive been saying from my experence here from , firebird and speedworld

as far as racing a car from a roll , and ive never believed in racing from a roll because it is not a true test of the cars power

racing from a roll is much safer for the car though... to many things can break from a dead stop... plus you have to factor in rt's and such... either way is fine by me, i'm just saying

its the lack of traction , to sudden traction that kills parts

and ive raced a freinds 63 nova with a 430 hp small block that ran mid 12's , against my 68 elcamino that never bested a 14.0 due to traction , with about the same hp from a 50 mph roll and we stayed fender to fender to about 130

also reaction time doesnt count against your 1/4 time , the clock doesnt start tell you break the beam , and im not worried about reaction times , or redlights , im talking actual ET's

LOL, so many people still believe a RT affects you 1/4 mile time, I don't get it.

Well, my focus runs, and has always ran, 15's all day long. And I have the timeslips if you wanna see them.

Anyway, I'm going down tommorow to test drive a 2.4SS, and I'll post back and let you guys know what I think about it.

The verdict is that the salesmen is an *******. He pulled the same thing he pulled last time I was there "oh yeah you can test drive it"...10 seconds later "oh hold on there's a customer, you'll have to come back some other time, sorry." I mean, what the ****, I'm a potential customer too right! Oh wait, I'm only 21, so they arent gonna take a kid seriously.
