Question 2.4L internals build

I was searching for it but couldn't figure out what the strength of the 2.4L internals are. How much abuse can they take? I know the limits of the 2.2L and the 2.0L, but how much horsepower can the 2.4L take before they blow?

As I understand it, the LE5 uses the same kind of forged internals as the LSJ. Hahn has taken the engine to over 400 HP without breaking it.

+1 - the 2.4 internals are the same as the LSJ (cept for CR of course)... no need for buildup unless you've got something seriously major planned.

I don't even have one. I'm just doing research for my next car. I could definitely get a 2008 Cobalt S and play with that if it has the same engine internals. I just want to know as much about the VVT as possible before I jump on it.

+rep for answering guys, thanks!

Its not so much the motor you have to think about when adding a S/C or turbo. From my understanding its the tranny and other mounts etc. Am I correct?

if you are not gooing up over 250 your stock internals are good for awhile, never hurts to upgrade of coarse, you will hower need a new clutch sooner than later to handle the extra power.

the 250 mark is more applicable to the 2.2's. as has been said, the 2.4's are as strong as the 2.0's, so 300-350 is no prob. just one more reason why the 2.4's would haul ass if some ppl would just boost the **** outta 'em

well at over 300whp i would hate float a piston with our compression, at this point, I would swap pistons, you don;t have to,just my 2cents

yeah mounts and depends how much power hes producing. say 300whp then axles and clutch needed too.

if hes runnin boost on that 2.4 then a 9.5 compression would be just fine.
