Belt noise anyone?

This morning when i started my car, it all sounded normal, let it warm up for a few minutes then started to go. When i gave it normal gas to accelerate, i noticed a higher tone sound from the engine, its not squeeling but it sounds like its the belt.

When idling it sounds normal, its only when accelerating, its a hard noise to describe, it just sounds like a higher tone sound you can hear over the motor when you have the windows rolled down. It wasnt like this until this morning. Anyone know what it could be?

Also during normal cruising, it sounds normal, its only when giving it some gas to accelerate, if i downshift to accelerate to pass someone, you can hear it too.

nobody?

Do you think this could have been caused by racing? Stretched the belt? heated it up too much and cracked? I was at the track racing it last nite, then this morning, its now suddenly loud when you accelerate

I have a similar sound with the same symtoms and times that it happens. It sounds almost like a buzzing sound but only during acceleration or sometimes for just a second upon start up standing outside using remote start. I have a 2.2 though, anyone have any ideas? It reminds me of the sound my Nissan pickup made after an exhaust manifold bolt broke and it was leaking

Your car grew a turbo

On a side note, I'm wondering if your issue is related to something I've dealt with for a while now. I have a faint buzzing noise coming from my driver side front tire. Its hard to hear but its there. I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything.

shop said bearings in the tensioner are showing signs of above normal wear which is causing the noise, and the belt needs to be replaced, so that will be fixed tomorow. Even though im pissed, its the first time ive had a mechanical type issue with the car since ive owned it.

So hopefully by the end of the week it will be all good to go again.

It could be that your flexpipe on the downpipe has cracked.. Thats what happened to my car, it would only make the weird buzzing sound when the engine was under load.
