Big Bore Throttle Body?

So... Saturn Motorsports is making Big Bore throttle bodies for the 2.4's... they're like $325... but if you return your stock T/B you get $200 back.

Looks like this is gonna be my next mod...

Question

Are they making big bore TB's or are they boring out stock TB's?? I would want more than just a bored out stock unit. There is already one out that's a bored out stock unit, has a red butterfly (throttle blade).

How big are these?? Do you have a link for us??

I wonder if it is the same as the one for the 2.0. ExHondaMan did a how to/review on the 2.0 bored TB a while back. He said it wasn't much larger than stock. Here is the link with pics.

Yeah... looks like the same thing that ExHondaMan did... but I think that for $125-$150 it's a good deal.

As the 2.2 and 2.4 are externally identical... it should work fine... I think they have one specificly with a part number for the 2.2 though.

Can you explain?

A bigger throttle body certainly won't hurt anything... should give us improved throttle responce.

Why don't we need it? Who'd you hear that from?

you don't necessarily <sp> need a larger overall bore, but one that has been opened up at the mouth to increase velocity can definitely help you out.

From what i recall one main advantage to get your T/B borded out is more torque though the downside is you will burn more fuel.

Is it worth it?? Up to you...

I believe the 2.4L TB is throttle by wire where the 2.2L TB is not which would make them very different from each other.

on the Cobalts, both the 2.2 and 2.4 should be throttle by wire
