Cams figuring out whats best

Well as I'm looking further down into my build one of the things I want to do is get some cams as well as a ported head..

My question is I'm trying to research on what lift and such is the best but I can't find anyway to figure it out.. Some knowledge would be awesome. I will be procharged when i get cams. any help would be awesome

From what i understand regrinds would be the best option.. gmparts direct sells new cams for 250 or so for intake and exhaust cams i'm figuring it's going to be about 1k to do a custom grind.. But i want to under stand what i'm doing and not leaving everything up to someone else

thanks in advance, Kyle

I think you would be better off looking at custom piston, they are only like 600 or so and I think you could get more from high comp. then cams.

on boost 10.4:1 is high enough lol i'm going to run stock CR anything higher the tune would have to be PERFECT spot on which is what you want anyway but a margin of error doesn't hurt lol

yea just dont have time at work really

their sc grind for a sced 2.2 is a 252 intake grind and 256 exhaust but only has a power band to 2800-6800 i'd like a 2800 - 7500K power band lol http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...csid=1080&sb=2

i dont know how similar it would be since we have vvt and i dont want to give that up

cus when i drop cams in i'll be putting in a ported head and built valve train and either a balance shaft delete or nuetral shafts.. I play on my redline being 7500

since i have a centrifugal blower it'll love the extra rpms i wouldn't want the cams to rob it lol

i gotta call them i just need the time
