Just curious.. if you were to go into your local GM dealer for regular sevicing and they noticed you have a CEL, and you know its because of a part you installed...magnaflow high flow cat for instance...how does that affect your warranty...is it gone lol? thanks

your question is answered a million times here, that's why no one is responding. short answer is not necesarily. depends what you're in for warranty work and what the cel is for.

Yea, lets say your radio went and ur getting a new one they probably won't say anything but it the problem your car has can be linked to your mods then they might say something. Also depends on the dealers, some are easy going, others will try to pick out anything to void the warrenty.

They say they will only void it if they can link it back to the part, thats open to negotiation between techs. Some of their dumber ones may not even notice it, some of them might and not say anything etc etc. They can't just void your warrenty because you took it in for an oil change and saw a completely new exhaust system, there are rules that protect you from that.

However if something goes haywire in the engine, they may likely say your aftermarket exhaust, which is not GM approved, is at fault etc etc. I've even asked a few dealerships myself and they drop serrious hints that they WILL find a way to void your warrenty. Thats just my experience with stealerships though.

With the state GM is in right now, it would probably be safe to bet that they will come up with any excuse to void parts of your warrenty.
