Clutch difference between base model and SS

Is there a difference between the clutch in the base model G5/Cobalt and the G5-GT/SS model?I had a base model G5 with 111,000 kilometers on it and the clutch was going when I sold it, swore I'd never own one of those cars again... but there's a nice black G5-GT that's less than half of what they're asking for civic si's around here.

While were at it, what other mechanical differences are there? I could care less about how it reacts to mods or whatever, just want a decent peppy good on gas car. My old G5 was a piece of damn garbage, just hope the GT is different.

Really isn't that good on gas. I average 23mpg on city/highway mix. Besides that they come with little bugs but nothing huge, pretty reliable cars.

Same stuff like my old one? Like twitching needles when I turn the car off, front lower control arm bushings, and wheel bearings?

I mean my wheel bearings are fine, CAB's need replacing though. I've also had to do the camshaft actuator solenoids, but besides that just regular maintenance and it runs pretty nicely

those are all typical cobalt issues, they are known for wheel bearings and lower control arm bushings going bad. And the twitching needles thing is just something with the ecu. They all do that, even the SS. Sorry but if you thought your old car was a pos you won't like an SS/GT anymore.

yah the twitching needles arent a problem, dont so picky about stuff that doesnt affect anything.

i get 28-31 out of my 2.4 mostly highway. i did do my wheel bearings at 105K miles. and my cam phasers at 156K. but nothing to bad for a car with that many miles.

i would say go for it, for the right price. and yes the base and SS/GT2.4s use the same trans and clutch
(i have 159K on my stock clutch and over 50 passes at the track, no issues)

I'm with LS6rally, same mpg, 80% highway, stock clutch at 121k. 50k worth with m62, few passes at the track with it, and in the last 2 summers about 40+ days of pulling a 2000lb boat up the launch ramp, which btw involves way more slipping of the clutch to minimize spin than trying to get a decent 60ft at the track! Id say the clutch can handle abuse, if your not totally learning on it.
