I enjoy my 2.4L Auto, i drive WAY too much highway (3 hours a day) to get a manual, id go insane.... i have intake, getting exhaust really quick here, lots of options and lots of things to learn, great car.

You just opened a can of worms... people will fight back and forth. the truth of the matter is, if you want something easy to drive and sit in a lot of stop and go traffic and you want a little power.... yes the 2.4 auto is the way to go.

If you want something to heavily mod and bring to the track..... the 2.4 auto is the way to go.

Now I know you are all going right now but here me out. the 2.4 is tunable. This means not only can you add the shiftplus, but you can also tune the transmission for better shifts. the small advantage the manuals have is a faster shift time, but a tuned automatic will shift faster than 99% of drivers out there and will NEVER miss a gear. It will launch easier and be one less thing to worry about.

Automatic FTW!

Whoever has a manual and cannot beat the auto cannot drive.
You went from a 5speed coupe to a auto sedan. there is gonna be a big weight difference there.

And I am gonna be THAT guy.... there is a reason the pro racers use auto's

Me personally i have been dissapointed with my car. It lacks low end and the good power comes in too late for fun daily driving. The engine feels like it has to spool up before the goodness comes. The throttle is a pain in the ass because you have to float your foot at 2/5 throttle to get any sort of reasonable acceleration off the line. If you floor it the car takes an acceleration siesta. The alarm sucks i got broken into and my alarm never went off. My sun roof switch broke the 3rd time i used it and is not covered by warrenty. The AC sucks.

I guess i should toss in the good about the car too.

Its really comfy the seats are nice and supportive and the heated leather seats are the bees knees. it handels nice

I like my auto 2.4SS, at first I didn't but, now I do lol. I just can't wait to get supercharged and go beat some people and say "yeah, its automatic..." and then walk away

what have you done to it? i have the 2.2 auto with the shiftplus and an intake... and it doesn't spool up at all. i get instant reaction when i floor it. sunroof is covered under warranty.... its a tsb so the dealers know its a mistake. bring it to another dealer and it will get fixed, or check out halfcent's how-to..... or just trade with me.

in all honestly from what i have heard (its what i heard remember) im not impressed with the 2.4 auto..apperently in first it shifts at like..4k or something like that..now i know u can get it tuned and all that i understand..but stock for stock i still have to go with a 5spd over a auto. and i do understand that a auto is WAY more comfirtable to drive..trust me i live in winnipeg..my auto was god in traffic compared to this 5spd lol

The 2.2 dosent rev up like the 2.4 the 2.4 has VVT which makes for a very different driving experience. Im not saying VVT is a bad idea but the stock tune for the 2.4 auto sucks especially hard. the closest thing i can think of about the 2.4s Acceleration at the low end is like an Aveo you hear it revving up but you don't feel it untill the VVT kicks in but by then your already dooing 35 or 40 and then its like LOOK I CAN MOVE but its a 45 zone so its like a big **** tease cause the good stuff comes in way way too late to be useful.

If i had the money ide get it vector tuned i hear nothing but good about their can tune. But stock I cannot recommend this car to any one who is looking for somthing fun to drive. I personally have been kicking my own ass since i got the car over how retarded it drives. If i could do it again i woulda brushed up on my Manual and bought the SS/SC or ION redline SC.

When i get the money i plan on getting headders and a tune then mabie a cat back. I don't want you guys thinking im trying to be a forum troll. My goal is to take my balt and make it into somthing fun. I just Wish the car was more likeable in the performance department.

just what the hell is ass math? I have the slips--like I said--maybe now that I have some miles on it--could be good for maybe 0.1-0.2 tenths---which still puts it far behind the 5 speed. It did take me a good 20 runs to get that 16.2

Weather permitting I will take the car on friday and post my results.

Ass math. Kinda like a butt dyno. You're making a judgement on an entire line of cars based on what YOU alone did. Not trying to be insulting. A MILLION factors could have played into why the times were so different.

Weird stuff. Go to a better track instead of racing in a parking lot

I feel the 0-40mph is pretty good in a stock auto. but the 40-60mph lacks a lot of power. but that's just me.

A million factors? Go on then, name them. I alone have owned both cars---they were raced at the same track, at the same elevation, by the same driver.

I am making a judgement based on the results of my runs.

your really not giving the manual much credit. You have the differential betweeen the 2 transmissions WAY too close.

Several members have gotten 15.1s at sea-level.

****---I did a 15.72@91 MPH and the altitude was 3490 feet!!

If your getting a 15.8 in manual--you can't drive or are at high altitudes.

i own one of em lol and on top of that its a five speed. i think i'm like the only four door 5-speed.

oh and as far as which is faster.... umm If you can't drive then the auto is faster, however if you're very good with a 5 speed then it will be faster. but just a hair in either direction. they're pretty evenly matched. and for the most part the STOCK 1/4 times i've seen favor the 5-speed. the fastest times are mod'd auto's. no one has mod'd a 5 speed that much. there's just not nearly as many manuals as autos.

agree'd, i've driven both the 2.4 auto and manual by the way and IMO the manual is faster, but it really varies from driver to driver. i also like the manual better because you have more control over your car, when speeding up there's no lag waiting for the auto tranny to downshift to go faster, no playing with the throttle trying to go just a tid bit faster.

should have gotten a manual lol. on my trip to school the road is forty five and redlining second puts you right around fifty. very fast. second gear pulls a lot

sorry i had to lol........ i'm a little biased, (okay a lot) but from what i've read on here most everyone else is pleased with the auto. you're just not going to be shifting the auto through I and L or whatever when your doing daily driving so the manual will be faster there. plus when you shift auto's like that on a regular basis it's not good for the tranny

i have 5 windows.... +2 little ones lol i'm sure its probably the same though. the majority of the money is probably for labor cause its a bitch to install. so basically around 200 is a good price. thats what i was seeing for 35% tint in my area. legal limit in oregon unless you work for the government or play in the NBA lol if you play in the NBA its not necessarily "legal" but you can have 5%. its one of those laws that doesn't exist but in reality its enforced that way. thanks for the info though, i'ma gonna call it a night

I am making a judgement based on the results of my runs.

.
Temperature (even a few degrees)
Humidity
Track Surface (how dirty was it, had it been cleaned recently, etc)
Driver error
Driver initiative
Driver reaction time
fuel quality (yes, the quality of the fuel from pump varies)
atmospheric pressure
air quality (change of the wind coudl mean the difference between clean air and pollution and dust)
vehicle weight
Tire quality
Tire pressure

I'm not saying that you didn't get that result. All I'm saying is that you are passing judgement on the auto transmissions based SOLELY on your result, when others have done better and driven more on par with the manuals. That's all.
Of course the manuals will be faster out of the box, but nowhere NEAR a full second faster.

p.s. We have CVVT (CONTINUOUS Variable Valve Timing) therefore there is no "kick-in." The "kick-in" that you feel is power enrichment, when the car leaves fuel conservation mode and goes into haul ass mode.
