Coolant temps

ok the other day I got my coolant flushed and I was previously running temps around 180. now after i got the coolant flushed im running temps of 194 if im driving down the highway and temps up to 201 in traffic. its not very hot out right now in jersey... in the upper 40's and these numbers that im running now arent anything extreme but once summer rolls around im afraid the temps will shoot up to 220 which is not good. any info on why my coolent shot up after the flush???

yeah my neighbor said that was a possibility. i get all my work done through him, he has his own shop with all the equipment.

he said they have a vaccuume that sucks all the coolant out and there is a slight possibility that air could have gotten in and come in contact with the thermostat. so could this cause any problems? and should i just have it redone or am i ok to keep driving it?

Uncrew the reservoir cap every now and then to let the air escape.

There is a coolant pipe that runs over the supercharger. This is the highest point in the cooling system. Take off the side of this pipe nearest the engine and run it into a container. Turn the car on until coolant starts flowing out of it and shut the car off. Put the pipe back on. Any air in the system will come to the highest part once the car is turned on so it'll now be out of your system. That's the only way to bleed the cooling system as far as i know.

Your temps sound normal to me. Mine always sits steady at 192 to 198 once warmed up. around 205 to 208 when idling in the summer at a traffic light.
Only time I'm in the 180s is when I'm coasting down those big mile long hills on PA roads and DFCO kicks in.

I run at 196 down the highway all the time.

and by "bled" he means to get the air out of the cooling system.
There is a sequence that you're supposed to do after flushing coolant.

Place heater controls to full hot, run the engine at 2,000 to 2,500 rpm for
3 minutes, then let car idle for 30 seconds. Turn off engine and let it cool, squeeze the top radiator hose to expel air, then add coolant to expansion tank if needed.

Does your heater blow hot air when on max ? That is a good indication that all air has been purged from the cooling system.

The thermostat is 180 degrees. If you get warm operating temps under that your tstat should be replaced.
