crankcase ventilation help
crankcase ventilation help
I need to ventilate my crankcase. I've got a catch can, now all I need to know is are there any pre-existing holes in the crankcase that I can tap into to ventilate it?
Your engine is a "closed" system. The PCV system ventilates and uses the crankcase blow-by. Ventilating it can affect the idle. All you need to do is install your catch can in the tube that comes out of the VC -- catch can in the hose between the VC and intake.
The PCV system still works the same as 60's cars...at idle and low speeds it sucks in filtered air from the intake through the hose into the VC and sucks it in through a metered hole in the intake itself. Under load the engine ingests crankcase blow-by through the metered hole and from the intake tube.
