Crashed the cobalt
For everyone thats keeping up with my crash, i said i was going to get some pics of it when i got the car back monday the 10th but that didnt happen so then they said monday then they said tuesday then it was wednesday then they said they promise i would get it on thursday then on thursday they said maybe monday now, grrr im so pissed they got everything done but the car wont stay running now and its because of something with the TCM = might be a short or maybe a lose connection, they said eaither a cut wire or the whole things bad which they priced it out 600 bucks, then today in the mail we got a letter in 30 days the insurance comp. is droping me and my parents cause im under theres, so all and all im fu*ked lol.
I have the same record. 2 accidents (none my fault and neither in cobalt) and 3 tickets (16, 16, 28 (lawyer dropped to 14)). But it just hit 3 years recently and my driving record is new again....for now. hopefully for a long time, if not ever.
k well today at 12 they found out it was the TCM that was bad and it cost 500 and something bucks, and they overnighted it so i should get the balt back tomarrow, everyone plz tonight when you go to bed pray for me to get my car back
lol and if i do then i will clean it up and take pics.

ss /sc front looks pretty good on there man.. kinda makes me think of an SRT... vicious looking front... simple back... just make it worthy of that front end now... congrats on getting it back...
contrats gettin ur balt back... i had my gfs dad back into my car (he was goin like 10-15 and i was stopped) but he does auto collision repair so i got it fixed for free lol but he was driving a bonneville and my air bags didnt deploy (thankfully) and he hit where you guys are saying. i have a 87/65 103/55 78/25 and a street racing ticket (87/65 didnt fite, 103/55 dropped to 85/65, 78/25 dropped to 35/25
and racing dropped completely (all i did was burn out racing a bonneville gxp and never went above speed so their wrong lead to me not getting a ticket period but i wouldve ended up with a recless driving 3pt)) to lose my license for 125 days.
my insurance is amazing and doesnt check records so i wont get it jacked up i still started out paying 225/mon and that was with a clean record/18yrs old... they told me any 2dr is a "sports car" which is what they considered my dads Z06 and i dont think my car is near that but oh well... im glad they arent dropping me and im really sorry to hear bout them dropping you and your mom. im goin to wait til my record clears before i get taken off my parents and get my own

It’s not really the "speed" itself, in a frontal collision it’s the observed rate of change in x-axis – (negative) acceleration through elapsed time, generally expressed in Delta-v or Delta-g (jerk) as measured by the accelerometer inside the Airbag Control Module (SDM)
The forward/frontal discriminating sensors are not in the bumper, they (2) are mounted in the radiator support, which is a primary full-frontal cross-car structure. They do not require a “direct hit” but will only be required to accelerate past a threshold (as compared to the airbag control module’s internal accelerometer) to initiate or “wake up” the deployment algorithm. It's actually quite common for a frontal airbag to NOT deploy in an under/override type collision that occured at lower initial velocities into non-stationary or moving (common vector) objects resulting in a relatively long (100ms+) crash pulse
That’s a pretty good description! "Severity" is basically established by comparing the accelerometers within the frontal sensors AND the airbag control module. Think of g’s then consider the “rate of change” in the g-force. This is what's used to establish "severity" or more accurately "expected severity" as the deployment decision needs to be pre-emptive in order to get the bags out "in-time". If the systems waits until it KNOWS 100% severity- it will be too late. This is why the airnags may at times appear to be deployed "too easily".
You are probably thinking of older DERM based systems that used inertia switches as crash sensors. These have been gone since the mid-90s in favor of electronic accelerometer based sensing and deployment decision algorithms.
Well I wouldn’t call it the “dumbest thing I’ve ever heard” or anything but it is actually a very common misconception. There’s a lot of misinformation about airbags combined with the fact that they are changing very rapidly with significant technical improvements with each model year.
What you are saying is quite true, however the fact that he was going slower than 25 mph is meaningless as under the right circumstances you can get sufficient x-axis negative acceleration to achieve deployment at a fraction that initial velocity. The closing velocity, impact vector (PDOF) and characteristics (size/mass/stiffness) of WHAT you hit are much more detrimental than any measurment of initial speed.
To the OP glad to see your car protected you and you were uninjured.
Car looks good despite your best efforts to write it off!

The sensors actually measure a rate of decel, and no the airbags wont deploy if you slam on your brakes. The car will slow down much faster traveling at 30mph and hitting a wall, then traveling at 30 and slamming the brakes.Chances are you hit the vehicle under 25mph and it wasnt a severe enough rate of deceleration to deploy the airbags.
