donalds turbo build

ok guys gonna build my 2.4 for turbo in jan
don't want to pay 3 grand for the kit from zzp i am getting
the stock tc turbo/manifold
after market charge pipes
saab intake manifold
k&n intake
downpipe
already have exhaust
also getting aftermarket intercooler

so what else is gonna be needed besides a tune already have that in mind
a list would be good

i think i can build it myself for under 3 grand

thanks to all and by the way my car is a 2.4 ss/na auto

injectors, tune, wideband, interceptor, boost gauge, custom cold side, bov, block off plate, coolant tap for the k04, coolant lines, welded oil bung in pan, oil lines. Also probably a ported turbine housing to not constantly be in boost. A 2.2 had that problem and a 2.4 would have that problem even worse. A search could have easily came up with this btw.

Its a tiny turbo is why it may always make boost. You dot need a bov if you get the bypass valve from the TC. You need the thermostat housing from the tc to clear the tc exhaust mani. You will need the coolant tap, I dont know if its on the thermo housing or if its a T, if its a T the guy who sells ecotec pullies and other parts on EF forum makes an aluminum one rather than the stock plastic one (well the saab turbo one is plastic). I would really suggest against using the tc turbo, its so tiny and unless you're getting it for like 350 bucks you would be better trying to pick up a used 16g and a hahn, zzp, or custom manifold.

Oh and you dont need the saab intake, your stock one will take plenty of boost.

no offense but from your posts this is out of your league and you SHOULD get the kit from zzp. there is a reason that it is priced how it is, which is cheap as **** compared to other cars anyways. it includes everything you will need. you piece it together you're going to go on and on with this and that part that you forgot and need. ask me how i know.

dude, I've pieced my kit together, and I can tell you that I saved no money at all by doing it. If anything, I wasted time, effort, and possibly some cash by not buying a kit. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with what I have now; but if I had to do it again, I'd most likely get the zzp kit and call it a day.

2.4, They didn't modify the invoice so I'm gonna say its the same as liquid to air. Also getting the built trans so maybe that's why the price didn't change? Idk. Either way you should contact them and get a quote.

wreck your original trans first before buying a new one. The 4t45e goes a long way before it breaks.

and for the air to air you could either go through ZZP or get your own intercooler and route your own pipes

ya i know but then i would have all the pipes and stuff from the zzp kit that i would not need and paid for i don't want to pay for them if im not going to use them i would rather them put the lsj swap charge pipes on there

with those would i be able to use my stock manifold

i got fu**ed on that lol,

when i ask for that they told me that i have to build my on charge piping or me taking the car to them................... and they could use the twincharged cooling setup (back then...thats how back i asked)

so i did it on my own.... and for some reason it came out a lil wrong lol.
i need to find the problem still.

but the car runs, just have a huge boost lag (before there was no lag at all).... basically it runs like a tuned 2.4 until boost lol
and the car is idling rough and misfiring....

work done: took out all cooling system, installed lnf ic, piping reused from kit and new ones added, filter cone move to inside engine bay.

changed maf and plugs, still idling and misfires continue. tune was checked too, car is running rich.

i still have to check all the piping to verify no vacuum leak is present.

one thing that might be it, it was that the maf was extended.... and we think is that, but it was cut and resawed again and use zzp extension. still problem persist.... so i think the wires still not making fully contact???? it should throw a code if it does???
i shouldnt made that extension i think.........

im using the same cooling setup as someone else in here, his is in a lsj and his car runs really good, but idk why for some reason my backfire
