F23 for the Manual. 4T45e for the Auto.

I don't see why it would matter. I'm sure someone in here is more knowledgeable on the F23 than I am though.

I've read that the gears on the shafts are pressed on with around 10 tons of pressure. but yes they will be able to be swapped, its still an ecotec engine, the ss sc and tc transmissions I don't believe are swappable with the 2.2 or 2.4.

the only problem with rebuilding it is that i dont have the tools to take the gears and what not out of the unit itself. so i would have to take it to a shop which would run me about 1500 - 1700 to rebuild it. i know someone that has a f23 that has 34000 on it, for a decent price.

mine is always pretty hard to get into second gear from first. much harder than the other gears, could this be a syncro going bad?

mine wont grind unless im over 3500 rpms after that it grinds into 2nd. so if i get on it i have to let the rpms drop before i can shift. every shift after that is nice and smooth no matter what rpm it is.
