yeah you can get a full custom set of pistons and rods for like 1500 or less if you look around.

What's the difference between an Eagle rod and a Carillo rod?

a different company makes them...? lol
there are different types of rods, H beams, I beams, X beams, but i think both companies are using the same type of rod, so price difference is just because they are 2 separate manufacturers

hm. I did some research and for a street application, Eagle Rods are more than plenty. Eagle Rods it is. Now for the pistons....9.5:1....
