Thumbs up header wrap questions...

so i have the cobalt addiction V2 headers and downpipe with high flow cat coming in 2 days. i thought that i would put header wrap on the new stainless steel header. does anyone have suggestions on how to secure it (they have some type of clamp, cant think of the name). would a hose clamp work (the kind you screw to tighten)? also, would anyone suggest that i put a coat or 2 of high temp spray (like VHT) or some kind of ceramic coating? if i do a coating... would i put it under the header wrap, over the wrap, or both.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Kevin

There are ties for that http://www.modernperformance.com/050...c-256_288.html and you shouldn't need to spray anything on it.....

I had to put some header wrap on my cermaic headers, in a mustang. It was getting to hot and eating up clutch cables. I have also painted my headers with VHT header paint, it works really good. and it stayed on there good as well.

Header wrap holds moisture in and will kill a header faster. Heat wrap as it is more commonly called is more effective being wrapped around something you are trying to keep out of, such as an intake.

Just get it ceramic coated if you want something to contain heat.

well, comments came a little late, but thanks anyway. I put the header wrap on and used the stainless ties to keep it on. i feel i did a decent job and it looks good.

now the big part... I SUGGEST EVRYONE GET A HEADER AND DOWNPIPE!! a full exhaust opened my car up like crazy. the custom race mufflers i had on it sound even better and i definitely feel the power in the low end, can chirp gears like nothing, and i can hear it in the high end.

thanks for all the input

Kevin
