help needed

After I slightly modified my intake I drove down to the end of my street where my engine disabled itself, how do I fix this?

I just ran a solid piece of intake flex from the stock air box to the intake.

Did you keep the Maf intact?

MAF? Mass air flow... yes it's still intact. I also had an extra piece of flex running from the under part of the air box to the grill under the licence plate, but I already took that out.

So what you did was remove the intake silancer and replaces it with a peace of pipe? If so tere should have been no adverse affects.

That's what I don't get, maybe the the tube I had running to the grill allowed to much air forced into the engine, and that disabled the engine. How do I reset whatever caused this?

is your MAF plugged in to the pipe correctly? check and see if it's facing the right way. there should be an arrow on the MAF pointing to the front. More air flow shouldn't cause your engine to shut itself off. it may throw a CEL from extra air flow, but i've never heard of it shutting the engine down completely. I knew of one guy who placed his MAF in backwards on his tiburon and the engine started to lose power and chug, and then the revs bounced around until he switched it around. Also check to see if the MAF is in tightly with no air leaks. After you check that stuff try resetting your ecu by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 10 min. If none of that stuff works then i have no idea. hopefully you won't need a new MAF, because those things are expensive . well hope that helps and good luck with the problem.
