If there was a good set of cams made for the 2.4 it would make all the difference.

im pretty sure there is 20 to 30 more horse to be found just in doing head work porting and shaving the head to increase compression add in some high lift cams with more duration give it a nice tune im sure would put it over the 200 horse mark.

Use to do allot of work with quad 4 engines porting those ho heads along with swapping out the cams made these motors wake up big time. that being said the idea is moving more air in and out so more fuel will be needed as well as opening up the restricted area's in the intake to allow more cfm's of air to flow in so larger throttle body injectors and good flowing header and cat back will help also good luck.

port work should run under 500 bucks if you know a guy that does it well that's better but you should be able to use good light valves and build a really nice head for under 1000 bucks if you shop smart and do your homework. not sure what cams cost for these motors being we use to get blanks from GM and have them ground for nothing.

Cheapest way would be to just buy an LSJ-equipped vehicle.

yes nitrous would be a quick cheap way but filling up bottles is not cheap thing of filling up 2 tanks of gas so that can add up real quick. I was going threw 2 bottles a week with 15lb bottles 60 bucks to fill a bottle kinda sucks but it sure is fun. i use to change my plugs just about every oil change as well. ngk-tr6 plugs makes for a good street nitrous plug make sure if you go with nitrous read and read more lots of safety tips out there that will help your motor last years with out problems.

I'm useing the Harris speed works sudden impact kit on my 2006 ss 2.4 cobalt it use to be on my other car so i had it laying around with all the extra safety along with fuel pump and hotwire kit you can never be to safe when it comes to nitrous i would also use 93 octane or better when you know the bottle will be in use and never spray under 3000 rpm and never use it unless your full throttle its always a good idea to have a full throttle safty switch if your car is like mine its drive buy wire so i pretty much use a transmission line lock button on a cord for my hit but for some one that is not use to useing nitrous get a tps activation switch.

Im sure it would be but unless he has the car payed off or the car is worth more then he owes what would be the sens in going to buy another car when he could drop a couple grand in it and woop on a lsj. my question would of been more like why did you not get a lsj in the first place ?

Well the only thing I 've done to the engine is stuck an old K/n filter on where the resonator used to be and took the gm filter out haha!

I plan on going turbo by next summer if the pay cheques agree lol
