They also seem to vary a bit from car to car. Some of the stock springs on our LE5 measured only 49 lbs of pressure at installed height. They still managed 7200 RPM naturally aspirated, but started having trouble keeping the valves closed at 6500 RPM at 11psi boost.

but stock internals, NA, you should be fine at 7200 RPM from what I'm reading here?

I wouldn't expect any issues.

I don't know if its really necessary to rev the car that high unless you have cams that can take advantage of the extra rpm. With the stock cams there's not much more power to be made after 7k.

Every dyno sheet I have seen for a stock or mildly modded 2.4's the power curve starts to fall after 6500 that is why the factory shift points on the autos are around 6700 and the limiter is around 6800, because there is no need to rev that high if power curve is dropping, just go ahead and shift to the next gear.

I gather that Floating springs are bad. But what does it mean? The springs float out of there correct location and cause havoc? If so, how?

Floating valves...it means the speed (RPM) of the engine is fast enough that the valve springs can't close the valves anymore and the valves "float". When it happens you'll know it, the engine loses power fast and then picks up when the valves start working again. Usually this is when you start breaking springs or rocker arms...

but if you're tuned and got your rev limiter raised, then the power band is extended and your peak HP is higher up

peak hp is higher for example: pre tune max hp was at 6200 post tune it was 6600. But power starts dropping after that 6600 so there's not much reason to rev that high. Only reason really on stock cams is if your hitting 4th at the end of the quarter and want to stay in 3rd. Other wise you just pushing the motor harder and possible causing some damage.
