How easy is it to install headers?

i was thinking about putting headers on my 06 cobalt ss and was wondering how difficult this mod would be... it looks like there is room near the stock header to just remove a few bolts and just pop the new one on but I'm not sure if it is more complicated than that or not... advice?

so far stock 06 2.4L cobalt ss

Who knows, no one has installed headers on a cobalt. Lots of people installed a manifold on there cobalt and its just bolts. simple if you have the time.

for our 2.4's no problem. are you doing just a header or header and dp combo?
cause the header i have does not bolt up to the stock dp. but just for the header its only nuts on studs. un bolt swap rebolt that simple. nice to have a hydrolic rack for this proccess to get to the o2 sensor out and heat sheild, but most of the bolts can be taken out in the engine bay after you remove the engine cover!

just make sure there arent fitment issues before you try to install i know that my install of an obx header ended up being very bad cuz it pushed the coolant tube and dident know i did. so just talk to other people who have the same one your going to install. other than that its easy

its very hard i still dont know where youd put the other header.
sorry had to. its very easy, it looks harder than it is, all you have to do is un-bolt remove and the install is even easier then taking off the manifold. if your un-sure call a friend but you do the work and if you get lost im sure theres a how to

It's easy. Did it earlier today. There's a certain bolt that made me want to strangle an infant though lol.

you'll need a few different combos of extensions to make it really easy.

I'll be doing this as soon as I buy them.. I installed my springs myself, so I assume I could do the header/dp/cat combo too..

Is it best to do it under the car? I can do that since I have stands and a real good floor jack..

some parts are easier from underneath, some are easier from top. best bet is to have 2 people, one under the car one under the hood.

Word. Same for the suspension. I could've done it myself, but it made it MUCH easier with two people..

I did mine on ramps. Wish I had a little more floor clearance, but oh well. 2 people makes it great, especially for retightening bolts. 2 dif people checking the bolts for tightness, plus using a wrench and socket to tighten works wonders.

I used some jacks and engine stands.

WD-40 is your best friend.

Search the how-to section, there are some really good threads. And the install is the same on all 05-07 cars
