There is only one brand that makes an actual long tube header, thats weapon r, and they have 1.75 primaries which imo are too big for the 2.4, and they dont have a cat. there are several companies that make mid length which is probably what your thinking of. clear image has a group buy going right now for their redesigned header(which im in on). it looks to be of very high quality and there are lots of options. they have a thread in the group buy section

JBP also has a long tube header with 1-5/8" primaries 17.25" long.... aka the spaghetti header.

I've heard this that the long tubes would be too much for a 2.4 but why?

I didn't know they made long tube headers. I was just going off the mod list under the 2.4 section. Are there any others besides the Weapons, JBP, and the Vibrant?

It wouldn't be the fact that its long tube. He is more concerned about pipe size, which if too large could hurt the low end. But since long tube headers help low end, it would probably be negated.

the cti one is also 1.75 primaries. while longer primaries do help down low torque, I think the diameter has more effect than length

Well, the diameter will determine where in your powerband the velocity of the exhaust gas will be higher. Primary length has to do with resonance. Both are important, but at the cobalt's power level, you are probably correct in assuming that diameter is more important than primary length.

when they say its too much...theyre refering to back pressure...ou take you have a set amount of back pressure in your exhasut right now on stock ir whatever your running..take that away and put a bigger exhaust in(3" or large ass primaries) and its going to majorly reduce backpressure which in turn will kill performance. basically unless your making alot of power you shouldnt need an exhasut larger than the size of maybe 2.5-2.75. and as for the primaries and such you should be keeping them pretty close to stock sizes
