Major Help Needed!@! High tech experts plz

That part i circled is cracked/chiped do to a front right wheel impact. My red oil lamp is on so i know its dangerous to run the engine in that condition. My oil doesnt leak anywhere at all. that chiped part has grooves it seems like something has to be skrewed inside of it. Could that be my red oil lamp cause? one way any of you can help me is by turning your steering wheel to the right you should be able to spot it on by your right front wheel suspension. I circled it in red plz tell me how yours is...does it have some kind of cap skrewed into it? Is it the reason my red oil lamp is on?

one problem, that's the wrong engine. that's the 2.0l supercharged motor. not the 2.4l

There is a 10mm hex plug that should be screwed into that spot. It is the pressure relief valve for the oil pump. If that is cracked, you will need a new front cover (timing cover). It will cause major engine damage (f-ed up engine bearings) if you drive it like that. It's not too big of a repair, sould take no more that 3 hrs.

What exactly do u mean by patch up? That's not just something u can put jb weld on and call it a day. The timing cover needs to be replaced w new gasket material. Don't drive ur car without checking ur engine oil either, if ur unfamiliar with checking it, look in ur owners manual or the 'how to' section of these forums under 'how to change your engine oil'. Should be a sticky if I'm not mistaken. Good luck bud

Yeah don't "patch" it just buy the new front cover... as stated that's the spring for you oil pressure, that's why your light is on cause you probably have no pressure right now.

I agree -- that is the engine's oil pressure relief valve! It will be very hard to insure the oil valve will move freely after trying to fix it -- you would be better off replacing the front cover. Did the screw-in plug come out by itself or did something hit and damage the plug/cover. If the plug came off then get a new one -- and the only way to get the individual parts for the oil pressure valve is to buy the cover!
