Odd rattling noise?

Just curious if anyone else experiences a rattling noise in the motor?

It's hard to describe but the motor rattles a bit when I'm REALLY light on the gas and around the 3k mark. The motors feels a little rough, but there is no misfire and no DTCs.

It's been doing this for quite a while just have ignored it a bit. It's not really getting worse but it's just bothering me. Is this normal for the 2.4? I know there's a common start up noise which my car gets once in a blue moon but this is pretty constant. You can't hear anything rattling when car is idling.

Almost seems like somethings loose in the motor or something.

Any thoughts?

It is a manual transmission.

could be a cracked exhaust manifold. I have seen those make a rattle or ticking noise, and they tend to get quiet when the car warms up and the manifold expands closing the crack. you can often see them if you remove the heatshield. found one today that was only making noise just above idle speed, not at idle and not at higher rpms.

I'm dealing with this now. Mine is a cracked flex pipe. So I got a low miles LSJ downpipe and Badmab to put on while I'm down there. Should fix everything.

Hey all thanks for the replies, I don't think it's exhaust related. It almost sounds like the car is not getting adequate oil pressure and the rattling I'm getting sounds like a motor going dry (which it is not). Like loose internals or something.

Any thoughts? PS - replaced flex pipe less than 6 months ago, doubt it's that.

Check heat shield then and bend it back.
