I think a roots style would be relatively easy with the serpentine setup. All you would need is a crank pulley capable of running a 2 belt setup. The original belt would remain, then add the additional belt, along with an idler/tensioner, and then the supercharger. It would be similar to the L67 supercharged 3.8 (it is a really simple setup to change pulleys on the S/C). However, I think the hardest limitation to overcome is the location of a roots style supercharger. The LSJ has provisions at the front of the motor to accomodat the space of the M62. Our intake manifold is completely different, thus causing a redesign, thus causing more money.

For space considerations alone, a turbo would be a lot easier. We have much more room on the back of the motor for a manifold mounted turbo than the LSJs IIRC. I think that the motor mounts account for that. The LSJ motor mounts locate the motor farther back in the engine compartment to accomodate for the intake mainfold and supercharger and different transmission, limiting the space behind the motor. Ours are located farther forward (or a more "standard" location), similar to the 2.2L.

I don't think we want to mess with the axle geometry nightmares that moving the motor back would cause. Turbo would be a lot easier again.

I have not posted for over a month now because of the exact same conversations happening every time. Supercharger/turbo is coming. I'll believe it when I see it. Untill then just prep the car to handle any type of boost. The reason it is taking sooo long..and maybe not at all because the sales of the 2.4L are in the crapper. Anyone looking to buy these cars are doing so in base model or supercharged..not middle of the rung. This is an economy car that Chev tried to make a tuner. Unfortunatly the tuner world doesn't really give a ****.. Sorry for the rant. Sick of driving an economy car with no options to upgrade it.

BUMP FOR INTEREST ... i'm a ion but still... i emailed just about every F/I company I could think of earlier today... so far hahn is a no as well as whipple... kind of disappointing but still supposedly speedmafia is putting together a turbo as well as a procharger kit for the 2.4 right now they're just looking for cars to test it on. If i can get a deep discount.. i might be getting blown before I expected

OK so I have some news for us 2.4L peoples and some bad news

Hahn race craft does not have a kit for the 2.4L as of now, and they didn't say anything about if it was in research.

Whipple (lyshom) doesn't have a kit and has no plans of making one at the moment

ok so that was the bad news

however Alpine turbochargers "Kyle,

We have already verified the 2.2L kit will bolt up to the 2.4L engine with no problems. The only unknown at this point is the tuning electronics. Have no fear though we are going to be installing a non-intercooled version on the kit on a Chevy Cobalt with the 2.4L engine very soon.
With regards to a groupbuy if you can get a hold of at least 5 people including yourself, who are willing to put a min deposit down on the kits we can certainly work out a great deal for you 2.4L guys.

Dave"

if anyone is interested I'll probably be making another thread to see if we can get some people together and get a group buy goin

Ok, HAHN DOES have a turbo 2.4, its roaming the streets of chicago.

Im honestly tired of posts similar to this. You all want it. But nobody wants to spend the money for it.

I'll challenge you all if youd like.

I built my own for my custom use. If someone wants to join in the project with me I will help do it to there vehicle but it will take me time to fab the kit, figure out mounting and clearance, and of course the parts.

I am very interested in doing this and I have tons of parts I can use, the problem is right now I mainly work on friends cobalts lol. I am still looking for one for myself.

If anyone in az wants to work with me on it I will help out and see what it would take to built one using the Eaton M62 Clutched SC. However beyond that it has to wait until I have about 19k for the car and the parts if not 3k more to make sure I get the right 2.4L.
