So the other day I was bored and decided to remove the muffer in leu of a straight pipe. Now every time I drive it I have a huge smile on my face. Best 16 bucks I have ever spent! Since I liked the sound I got a cheap stainless tip. The noise it makes when I downshift into second "L" at about 70 is undeniably the loudest 4 cylinder I think on the planet. I left in the cat and resonator. The car doesn't sound raspy, just sounds fast and loud, even thought the power gain is .001 hp. I would definitely reccomend it to anyone that is looking to rice out their 2.4. lol I have a video but a buddy put in on facebook so I don't know how to get it off of there. I'll make another one soon and post it up on youtube or something so anyone looking for some noise has an example.

Cutting off a muffler (making the car not in regs) and welding in a straight pipe just to have a louder exhaust. Why anyone would that is beyond comprehension. When the cop pulls you over and tickets your for 1) smog and 2) noise, you will be handed a fix it ticket. Now you're spending upwards of $200 to get your car back to stock. I just don't understand it.

in my own defense, 1 we dont smog in missouri, 2 it isnt loud at all....my race civic was louder then 4 of these things and lol who cares if someone wants to chop their exhaust? it sounds good and if its kinda hidden on the cobalt soooooo your point is? lol

In my recent experience, the louder the 4cyl car, the slower the car and the higher the odds of you getting the 'hard fly by'. In this case it's just another slow ass car sounding hard. The LE5 without a muffler sounds like a bucket of bolts, but thats just my opinion.
There was smart people on CSS.net at one point in time? Man I guess I showed up late to the party then.....9/10 threads on this site hurt my brain.
