Pistons
Pistons
Now I'm not necessarily thinking of getting the Hahn turbo kit for my 2.4, but I was bored at work and was looking around for pistons for our engine. I emailed a few companies and got a response from JE Pistons.
Forgive me if this is known, but I haven't seen it yet on this forum. This was the response I received from them when I asked if they had plans to manufacture forged pistons for the 2.4L Ecotec in the 2006 Cobalt SS:
Kinda cool for those that are planning on getting that kit. Looks like you'll have some lower compression forged pistons available afterall.

Hahn will exclusively be carrying these pistons for that motor. Call them up and ask for Bill. Tell them that Nick from JE sent you and your looking for those pistons as soon as they are ready.
Thanks,
Nick

it would be nice but...once that turbo hits the street and we get some stage kits for it...wel be tearin it up out there...maybe even make them ss/sc's look slow...i dunno well just have to see

Oh I am looking forward to a turbo 2.4 as well as you guys. I use to own one and would love to see it happen. I would glady take a lost to a 2.4ss. It just gives me more reason to make mine faster, haha. Same goes for when I start seeing HHR SS's flying fast me with the sound of a BOV.
8:1 would be for very high boost applications. You'd have to run some high boost to compensate for that low of compression. 8.5-9.5:1 will be optimal a DD car running under 20 lbs. And that 20lbs would be a little high for the 9.5:1, but you get the idea.

all I was saying by that is almost every car on the market that F/F runs huigher then 8:1 cr.
There is no reason to have it that low.
The Turbo Trans Am 1980-81 had 7.5 to 1--I have not seen a cr that low since. Primitive electronics of the day--now days the engine management systems are much more advanced--allowing a much higher compresion ratio and a lot of boost.
