Pistons for our 2.4s?
Pistons for our 2.4s?
What are our options? I see in the list of mods that we can get wiseco pistons. Who carries them? Or what other company makes pistons for our vehicles. I know zzp does but they're pretty expensive..just wondering what our options are.
Ask OttawaMark. He did Wiseco, but may have had some issue like the piston would contact the oil squirters iirc. I think they ran him closer to 5 bills rather than almost 8 for the JE. Whatever you decide do not run the lower compression 9 JE set, stick with stock 10 unless you're considering a lot of boost. Car will feel like a slob until you're in boost otherwise and you can't make up the lost power/fuel economy.
There is some info here about adjusting the jets. I think he worked direct with Wiseco since they did not have them available at the time. I remember he had to help them track down some info for the measurements.

That being said though. If you're not going big boost and dumping the SC just have fun with your current setup and push it a little harder with a smaller pulley though you're going to run out of injector if you do that. Im surprised you are on a 2.9 with 60s. I barely got by with 60s on a 3.1. The engine will very likely hold up fine for anything an m62 can throw at it.
Edit:

JE 10.4:1s, get resleeved by Mr. B and have them rebored to the exact piston to bore tolerance (40 thousand for the JEs) otherwise don't bother touching the bottom end. Do it right, or don't do it at all. ZZP cheats on their Forged blocks, orders a piston 2 thousanths bigger and slaps them in. No sense boring a stock sleeve unless you have a gen3 block, and even if you measure your gen2 block and have wiseco or JE build slugs to those specs the bores are likely out of round.
In short, **** it. Only the craziest Sc build needs a bottom end especially as you are 2006. If you are determined, go for it but take the time and the machinist is your best friend.
As the freek stated, I have the 8.75:1 JEs (they are actually 8.5:1 but with ZZP rods being .010 longer than stock it is a .25 bump which they round up to 9) and they are horrible gas sucking pigs. Was draining a tank of gas every 4 days last winter...less than 200 miles a tank.
Expensive hobby.
