Are the resonators just for sound dampening?

A cat back is only going to make a noticable difference if you go with 2.5" piping or better. Make sure its mandrel bent piping as well. Stock pipe is part 2.5" and part 2.25".

three hundred horse is just around the corner. I think that 2.5 piping is way to big for our cars unless we are running a turbo or sc. my v6 maxima was not even recommended a 2.5 piping. dont we have 2.25 piping already

We have 2.5in untile the rear axle, were it shrinks to 2.25 all the way out. Solstice's come with full 2.5in, which is partly why they are rated at 177. For a shop to replace to 2.25 w/2.5 and install my muffler was $80 bucks, muffler was $80. $160 exhaust, instead of spending $500 bucks on gmpp, corsa, etc

that sounds cheap but how does it sound. does it sound really raspy or like a rice rocket cause i hate that. are you saying that it turns to 2.25 after the resonator.
