hmm i've never heard of that one but I don't know how accurate that is? recommended is 35. I don't know if thats a guaranteed 35. Which should I trust more tho when filing tires besides the chalk test.

the chalk test will tell you what the tires need. the recommended air pressure is for when the car is fully loaded. and i am assuming that you are probably the only one in the car most of the time. and therefore the tires dont necesarily need to be filled to that pressure.

Mobil 1 5w30 w/ dealer-bought AC Delco PF456G filter FTW!

*edit* Your a 2.4 so idk what filter they take. But Mobil 1 FTW, especially if you are keeping the car for a long time. I use M1 and go by the oil life meter, and change the oil filter at 50% then again when I change the oil.

As far as tire pressure just go to pep boys and buy a tire pressure gauge (not the pencil ones but the ones that look like an actual pressure gauge.) They are plenty accurate. The tire PSI on your doors are for maximum comfort. My SS is supposed to be at 32 but I have them at 35.

Stay on topic, don't post unless you are furthering the thread topic. Childish or pointless comments are unnecessary, if you're making a point explain it with facts and information.

My oil % is at 63% @ 2000 miles but I want to go synthetic so I guess it won't make a difference if I change oil a little early. Now I saw a how-to about the oil filter... If changing the oil my self I'm going to have to do that too?? Or is that for something else? https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/fuel-filter-change-how-pictures-51977/ Cause I know your usually supposed to change some kinda filter every oil change...

Changing the oil is so easy on the 2.4, there is a How-To on changing your Oil should make everything very easy.

Just go to your local auto store and by 6qt of your oil, and a new oil filter (same for all cobalts) get some jack stands and some wheel chauks. Then just follow the how-to and should be golden, once you do it a couple times it will be cake. Most auto-parts stores offer oil disposal just call and ask around, or even try local garages (may charge a nominal fee).

Ah screw it then. I ain't messing with the fuel lines. Knowing me I'd do some thing wrong. I don't trust my self unless I'm visually shown. (i'm very good hands on like that I mean I can figure things out but on the safe side... lol) I'll just have the dealer do it tomorrow. My dad said he's paying for the oil change anyway (I don't get paid till thurs) But should I get 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy instead of 5W-30? Cause it says 5W-30 is for superchargers and turbos and high performance engines. Also would the dealer have these oils or should I go and buy them and tell the dealer to use the oil I bought? ( I asked this before but I didn't get an answer)

Fuel lines? What? I think you're confused here

Hell if someone is paying for it, go to the dealer... If you're paying for it do it yourself or go somewhere else the dealer is a ripoff especially for synthetic changes. Use 5W-30 it is what is recommended for the 2.4 and your dealer will use the required oil for your engine and have it in stock. You could save some money and buy the oil yourself, just call and ask the dealer if they will cut you a discount if you bring in your own.... But like I said, if your not paying who cares what it costs

ive only got 2500 miles on my 08 . With new cars they now reccomend changing your oil every six thousand miles.. Synthetic or not. Say what u want but its true. Thats really what the oil life monitor is for.. Oh and i will be getting all my oil changes and rotations from my dealer. Expensive or not i get my tires p6s for life and no.. Didnt buy a package deal!!

there's no fuel lines involved. you unscrew the plug in the oil pan, and the oil comes out. when it's done coming out, you put the plug back in. then you unscrew the top of the oil fitler, take it out, put the new one in, and tighten it up. there's really nothing to mess up especially with the how to.

i think you looked up a fuel filter how to, not an oil change.

Oil Change howto: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/oil-change-how-picture-22848/

I know it's for the SS/SC, but the steps are still the same.

i would get a few car basics books to help you learn. once you start to understand the basics, and hwo things work, it gets alot easier.
