I'm just wondering if there's anywhere online that shows you how t otune by yourself? Can this even be done, say with a laptop or tablet etc?

Check out the HP tuners forum and do some reading on there, maybe go pick up a book on MAF tuning.

HPT is a great tool...though it will take you a while to learn. Maf tuning will be the biggest benefit for anyone tuning the le5 IMO

mega squirt will work, you can even add VVT support now. BUT WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!!!! We have HP Tuners where the extent of the wiring involved is plugging something into your laptop and OBDII port. Really want to learn? Get Greg Banish's books and DVD.
