im gonna agree and say its a bad MAF. the T/C light turns on when the car doesnt have a MAF reading (i know from experience). Either that, or something simple. Maybe the rough idle is caoused by dirty/fouled plugs having trouble making spark so your misfiring

Go to the dealer, they should scan the car for free and tell you all the codes(current and history) that they find. That would be the first place i'd go, not auto zone. Why? Because autozone's scanners get a read error on my car.

You should still be able to have the code read at autozone even if its off. That's your best bet. Might save you from a big problem down the road.

But IIRC, you don't have a mortgage or family to support. It's one thing to be single and renting or single and living at home and significantly modding your car. It's completely different when you spend a shitload of money without a reserve for repairs when you have a mortgage over your head and a family to support. That's just dumb.

Single and renting or not.....my rents live 2 states away and I don't have a 2nd car, OR the money to fix it should something go dramatically wrong

Owell, take chances, make mistakes....but most importantly.....have fun.

a cheap car can be bought for $1000 or less, go to some car auctions, you can get some killer deals on cheap cars just to beat around in

my brother bought a '97 monte carlo with 175k on it for like $750, he has had it for over 2 years(as a work car)... I mean it was pretty rough(paint, cracked windshield, etc.)... But he got the window fixed for $150 and its a heck of a work car

Yeah, but a **** up is a lot more easily fixed when you don't have other people depending on you is what I was saying. Jeopardizing things for yourself, while it sucks, isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things - just an "Oh well, I paid for my fun/Live and learn" kind of thing. Jeopardizing things when you have a family depending on you for support is just plain dumb.

Celica, check your charge piping from the turbo to the inter cooler.

I know every once in awhile my charge pipe will pop off and will be coated with oil. Take a penny..unscrew the clamp..put it back on...and tighten that bitch up.

However, that should of only happened under boost.

But to the OP, that sucks man. Hope everything works out for you. Keep us posted.

well ever since that day its been fine, somehow i think the rain found its way into my air filter which is weird cuz ive never had that happen before even through worse rain than i went thru. car has no codes or anything. it does throw misfire codes here and there but that was even when the plugs were new. somedays i can rev the **** out of it and no misfires then under partial throttle conditions it misfires. I know i need a better tune but i dont have anyone that knows what they are doing with hp tuners around me to help and the guy i used just did what he could. i would love to buy a beater but that would be just another problem car too worry about as well when something breaks on it.

I don't think water would do that.

I had a cold air intake on my 2.2 and the car had no fender liner (got ripped off). So every time it rained, I'd have a **** ton of water spraying at the filter (from the ground and the tire)

If the road was wet, my filter was dripping. Never had a single problem other than slight power loss during wet weather.

Well, with a turbo it was probably sucking hard enough to pull the water in though.
