I chopped mine off, then coated the end with a little black epoxy resin. Looks like it came that way from the factory.

i was thinkin bout this thread as i was walking outside too. i was praying that mine wasnt stuck like urs. i took a wrech with me, put it around the end of the antenna and just turned it left. was extremely easy. lol

but i dont kno what to tell ya man, mine as well just go nuts on the thing and go out there with a wrench and put all u have into it.... if that doesnt work, u could always cut it down urself and put a cap on the end of it and make a "custom shorty" theres a few ppl who have done that

Are the Cobalts capable of the "disappearing antenna" mod that I did for my ION? The antenna is acually relocated and is parallel to the ground behind the fender:

The how-to:

Wrench on flat spots just below the mast. If you have 2007 it is 7mm stud 05-mid 06 are 6mm stud. Make sure new antenna will fit 7mm.

hey jimmy. i just got the antenna x version and attempted to replace the stock one. the same thing happened to me. it was stuck on so tight that you end up popping the base off the mount that is inside the trunk. that is why yours is so wiggly now. its because its not attached to the base mount inside. your fucked. just like me. you prob bent the metal bracket on the inside. its not fixable so i have to go to chevy now on monday and have them replace the bracket and the base mount. im just gonna have them put it back to a stock antenna.

Its funny cause I thought you had to take off the base to get it off until I read on here that you just use a wrench to unscrew the antenna.

I guess I can join this club. Spent 25min so far trying to get it off. Im so pissed, broke it off the bracket, used a 19mm on the base thats inside the car and a 8mm on the mast, and twisted in opposite directions to lossen and nothing. FFFFFFUUUUUU
