Stock HP?

last year it was rated at 171..now its 173? its the same car isnt it?

Its possible there was a minor change OR they are rated under GMs new rating system, which is more accurate. The 2.2 for ex gains 3 hp but loses a few tq.

so like can i say my car has 173hp even though its an 06? just so i have a couple more hp for bragging rights.

not really, you are probably sitting at 150 @ the wheels which is what you would want to brag about.

3 HP means nothing, dont worry about it

I thought our gas tank held 12.2 gallons? I may be wrong though.

sorry but thats BS on the compression ratio---it is unchanged. If it went down over 1 full point, hp/tq would drop.

avro206 your right about compression being unchanged. just shows how unreliable autobytel and some of those other websites are. A quick check with chevy website shows compression unchanged.

171 hp is wrong anyways. I took the car on a dyno run the day after I purchased it, and then another dyno run (2 different dynos) and they both gave me a reading of 159,2whp, bone stock... so that makes it around 180-183 hp to the crank.

GM has always underated their engines' hp.

first one was a DynoJet, second one (a week later) was DynoMyte.
