Supercharging with stock exhaust?

What kind of issues might I face if I don't buy an exhaust setup before supercharging my le5? Will it be too restrictive?
I should be getting my last part for my build next week, and I am low on funds for an exhaust. And I want to keep my exhaust pretty quiet like it is now.

what's the point of forcing all that air through the engine if you can't get any of it out? to get the full benefit of your supercharger you're going to want a full exhaust. it will work fine on stock exhaust, but don't expect the full potential.

what super are you using?

I'm using the M62 that I polished a bit.
I know that I should get an exhaust for full benifit, but I also want to keep it quiet.
would it be better to just buy 2.5 in piping from mandrelexhaustsystems.com then buy a larger muffler? thats somthing i have been thinking about.

There is nothing wrong with using stock exhaust, it's just not optimal. It still get's the job done though, mine saw 230whp/205tq on complete stock exhaust with stock pulley.

I thought the stock exhaust is already 2.5in except for where it goes over the rear axle? I just replaced that part and put a borla XR1 muffler.

I bought LSJ header and LSJ downpipe for about $130. That is good for now.

your stock exhaust will be fine for awhile.

Im still running a..modified stock exhaust.

AKA, no muffler, no resonator, and soon to be no cat.

2.4 has same exhaust as the ss/sc minus the downpipe.
